Dems post high turnout on first day of early voting

Who would have thought?

Early voting returns for the first day are in – and the Democrats have outvoted the Republicans in Ellis County.

In an interview Tuesday night, Democratic Party chairman Larry Wilson said he couldn’t be more pleased.

“That’s absolutely fantastic,” he said. “You can say we are having an enthusiastic ‘wow.’ Since about two weeks ago, we’ve been planning for a surge in Democratic voting and it looks like we may have to plan for a little more than what we thought.

“We’re just very, very pleased with the turnout,” he said.

The Democratic vote total for the first day was 466, with Republicans casting 376 ballots.

This is good news I am betting there is some crossover votes from Repubs.
