Is it too late for Al Gore to get into the race?
I was excited about Edwards, but the media ignored him and he dropped out - I flirted with Hillary, but she and her husband's negativity drove me to vote for Obama in the primary.

And I do like Obama, but I'm a little concerned that he (or Hillary) will be too weak against the GOP candidate in November. He's got 3 years in the senate, 6 years in state senate, and some community work/legal work on his resume. As inspiring as he is as a speaker, I'm afraid he'll be torn apart on the basis of his slightly skimpy resumé.

Is it too late of Al Gore to step up to the plate, after this divisive primary season? Would his emergence be galvanizing, or even more divisive?

Are people so wrapped up in having the "first woman president" or the "first African-American president" that they're losing sight of the fact that this thing is not going to be a cake-walk?

I'm mostly just thinking out loud. I was very enthused about these two candidates, but thinking about their records, vs. McCain's much longer record has made me a bit worried.

Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's a wash - maybe McCain's advanced age and length of time in the Senate (& House) is as much of a detraction as an asset.

Personally, I find Obama to be much more likeable and inspiring than McCain, even on a non-ideological basis, but then I read these polls that have McCain close to beating Obama even in states like New York, and I start to worry.

What is it that people in the sticks are drinking that makes them see something appealing in this irascible, grouchy, ill-tempered, stingy, war-mongering, poor-people-hating old bastard?

I just don't see it.

I couldn't understand how anyone could possibly vote for Bush in 2004 after 4 disastrous years of his incompetent and corrrupt rule.

I read people talking about "landslides in November". But they were saying the same thing in 04, and Bush got 3 million more votes. Say what you want about Ohio, but the fact is he got a LOT of votes. It amazes me he could get more than 30 percent with his atrocious record.

We clearly live in a nation of insane people.

Would Gore be able to pull it off?

Or is Obama still our best hope?

I saw something about Obama meeting with Edwards in NC, so maybe Edwards will end up on the ticket, and that would be a good thing...

(((SIGH)))

1. People need to get it through their thick skulls...
...Gore isn't going to be the nominee. Barack Obama is. Edwards is not going to be VP. He didn't help Kerry, and that did not go unnoticed. Gore is history, Kerry is history, and Edwards is history. The sooner people accept that, the better.
