MSNBC in defend "Saint" McCain at all costs mode
Their coverage this morning has hit a new low. They are all trashing the Times and defending McCain. The one exception is David Gregory who is approaching this story as a journalist. He even said that it wasn't his place to question the Times' motives for which he was promptly attacked.

Now Joe Scarbourgh, Tucker, Buchanan and Tweety are all pundits and admittedly right wing pundits so I'm not surprized that they are supporting McCain. What I find disgusting is the management of MSNBC for not putting on someone to balance them particularly since the network has the reputation of being biased for McCain.

I also think that the conduct of Mika Bresinski is reprehensible. Unlike the others she claims to an objective journalist, not a pundit. However, this morning all she has been the most critical of the Times and admited to not caring whether the charges are true and that they don't change her opinion of McCain. She has proven herself to be a hypocrite by charging the Times with journalistic impropriety which she is blatently exhibiting her own pro-McCain bias.

2. Mika is there for balance but she just keeps bobbing her head up and down in agreement
And occasionally she blurts out, "Joe, Joe, do you think this could end up helping McCain Joe"?

Pretty sickening.

3. How horrible
that they would not wait for concrete evidence before they slimed him.

How dare they?

8. Funny how the people so outraged at the Times this morning
were silent when the Times helped pimp the war for the Bush regime, were silent when the Times changed what Al Gore said in 2000 so they could call him a liar, were silent when the Times ran Whitewater stories during the '90s to slime the Clintons.

If this story had been about a Democrat, those bashing the Times this morning would be cheering them instead.

10. it must be hard to be an independent journalist--and a woman--at that table
the best thing she's got going for her is her pedigree. they can't just 86 her like they did Ashley Banfield

14. She's not acting like an independent journalist
but rather a shill for McCain.

17. exactly--don't think you can do both and keep the job
thus the head bobbing. Even Keith is reduced to that with Tweety at the same table.

9. For real. I turned on Fox for the first time in weeks
and they gave a remarkably unbiased account of the Democratic primary race, with none of the emphasis on the negative campaign tactics which have dominated their coverage in the past.

Although Rupert is a conservative windsock, he is a windsock, and will follow wherever money leads him.

6. I thought JoeS laughed when Gregory suggested it could be "platonic".

I thought only Buchanan was in high dudgeon over the NYT. Mika cooled hers pretty fast.

But maybe I should have kept watching. :)

In any event, "not caring about whether the charges are true or not" = "I know they're true, but I don't want you to know."

11. No surprise.
Among other things, GE gave him an hour of free airtime on Meet the Press right before both the New Hampshire primary and the Florida primary (knowing his campaign didn't have any money and he absolutely had to win them to stay in). CBS had him on Face the Nation the same day before the NH primary.

Perhaps big defense contractor like talk of 100-year war/occupation?

15. Benefit of the Doubt
I wonder if they would have given Obama the benefit of the doubt if a story like this had come out? Can't wait for Keith Olbermann to speak to this.

18. Yeccchhhh.
Buchanan's repeated insistence that all other candidates should steer clear of comment on the story, that commenting on it would only make them look bad -- this after his over-the-top screechy whinefest over his manufactured offense at Michelle Obama's wrenched-out-of-context comment nonstory...

No doubt Olbermann hits the shower after having to share breathing space with the slimemongers.
