First Ladies and Pride
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 11:31 PM by Plaid Adder
So, I see that the usual attack on the potential Democratic First Lady is underway. Curse those Democrats for marrying women who don't clear their every word with their husbands before uttering it!

I think it's nuts to vote or not vote for someone because you do or don't like the person they're married to; but since people are determined to talk about the opinions and words of the candidates' spouses as if they could tell us something about whether said candidate will be able to pull this country out of the deep pit into which George W. has plunged it, there's no reason the Democratic spouses should have bear the *whole* burden. And so to Cindy "I've ALWAYS been proud of America" McCain, I would just like to say this:

If you were proud of America during the weeks following Hurricane Katrina, there is something very, very wrong with you.

That is all,

The Plaid Adder

4. Aside from the idea (which has merit) that pride is one of the 'seven sins",
(and I don't even admit the existence of sin, per se, as that's an invention of religious nutballism), nevertheless how can anyone claim pride for something they had nothing to do with in the first place? How the hell could I be 'proud' to be an American (for example)? Being born here wasn't something I planned or had any control over! :eyes:
