News Alert: It's still America out there!
Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 06:34 PM by Redstone
Someone shoveled the snow off my driveway today, and I don't know who.

I was working in my office this afternoon, and heard the sounds of shoveling from outside. I didn't go look to see who it was, because I assumed it was my older son, because it was about the time when I'd expect him to get home from work. But it wasn't him; it turns out that he had to work late today.

I'm suspecting that one or other of the neighbors saw me earlier in the day, out there shoveling the snow one-handed (because that's the only way I can do it, and I wanted to make sure the driveway is clean for Mrs R when she gets home from work later).

But I could only get the part where Mrs R parks her car, plus the front steps, really clean; the snow was wet and heavy, and it's a big driveway to try to clear off one-handed.

And then SOMEONE came over and shoveled the rest of the driveway. Without telling me that they were doing so, and went home.

Damn.

2. My dear Redstone...
Well, good for whoever did that for you...

And you, sir, deserve it!

No arguing...You do!

You have a guardian angel, living nearby, don't you?

6. I'm going to go to the grocery-store parking lot tomorrow, find the oldest, most beat-up car
that has a baby seat in it, and slide a fifty-dollar bill through the window.

5. And you know...
it MIGHT have even been a Republican!

We're all in this together.

7. It might, indeed. Politics is no deterrent to neighborliness, fortunately.
Even as a DU member, I've never forgotten that people can be decent, even if they have the misfortune to be Republican.

And it seems you haven't either, based on your timely and well-needed reminder.

10. A pay it forward moment for sure!!!
On Valentine's Day, someone in our building wrote 'I (heart) you in the snow 6 feet tall under our balcony! We live in a condo building with alot of older folks, and we do all we can for them... It was so cool!!!

I then took an angel ceramic I have from my hometown and placed it by the door of a couple that I know collects angels, and the husband is going thru chemo while the wife still does 40 hrs a week at a grocery store.

Pay it forward, it feels good....
