George Will, on This Week, said that nobody in America is suffering
He asked - Who is suffering? That's my paraphrase.

I guess the sound of people losing their jobs, health care and homes doesn't reach his aerie.

1. George Will is a RW bufoon.
What he meant was, "poor people who have no political influence are being enslaved by the corporate war machine so that I can drive my gas hog and fly across the country several times a week. So what?"

2. George Will and Cokie Roberts.
The two biggest reasons for never watching that stupid Stephanopolous show.

George Will, Man Of The People

On This Week he notes that no one in Versailles is hurting.

GEORGE WILL: It seems to me Obama’s problem is that you can only be a novelty once, and for a while. And he needs – he’s worked one pedal on the organ quite enough now; this stuff, I’d call it banal eloquence, where he says, ‘In the face of despair, we can still hope.’ I have news for him: Americans aren’t in despair. Look around you. Who’s despairing? We have mild problems.

8. Thanks!
Despair was the word I forgot. It's even worse than I remembered.

20. Hmm
Will's been working his banal eloquence for years now. So his continued existence disproves his whole point.

5. he should ask that of Cindi Sheehan- of the Katrina evacuees-of
those of us without health care, employment, etc. He should visit our shelter and ask some of the guests. Talk to the spouses and families of those in Iraq, Afganistan. Those who have returned to try and heal, try and survive, try to simply live.

He should take his wealthy, white, privlidged head out of his ass and have a look around.

peace~

6. The term 'suffering' is a word that can be equivocated ...
One man's suffering might be having railroad spikes driven into the eyes .... Another's might be listening to Opera ... Yet another might be eating dinner at their inlaws ....

George Will doesn't relate to 'regular' people on the bottom because he is insulated from them ....

He doesn't see torture rooms, on American soil, and full of innocent Americans, hence "nobody in America is suffering" .... He doesn't consider losing your job, foreclosing your home, and having to scrape for money to buy your family food to be 'suffering' ....

9. That's it exactly, IMO
Will has a long history of setting up grotesque strawman criteria of what a trouble economy "really" is and then harumphing when no one can name an example that meets his false criteria.

This is another example of the same.

14. I thought you stated Oprah instead of Opera
I would prefer Opera than watching/listening to Oprah. Especially after she first brought on the quack Dr Phil on the show.

"Look around you. Who is despairing? No one is in despair!"

Yes, Mr. Will. You're in the top .25 percent of income level in this country. You make
your living appearing on television and talking for an hour--and writing books and articles
at your leisure--from the comfort of your multi-million-dollar residence.

I'm sure, Mr. Will--that when you "look around" at your small world of elitist, uber-rich
cohorts--you see no despair or suffering.

However, Mr. Will---did it every occur to you that not everyone makes millions of dollars a year
and is part of the American aristocracy?

Don't just look around you, Mr. Will. Look beyond yourself and your neighborhood--for five seconds, please.

Many are in despair and suffering.
