I was just pondering the appropriateness of "Convervative Idiots".. think back to 2000.
How can anyone that is not brain dead or an idiot of some sort not think about how things were coming out of the 8 years of Clinton presidency, and then compare things to now. The list could be endless, but just considering:

Gas Prices, Stock Market, overall US Economy, response to Katrina, status of Healthcare in the US, the current political environment..Afganistan's backslide, Iraq - and all of the American deaths because of these two events (with no end in sight)...all of the children being left behind because of NCLB...the endless parade of Republicans caught with their hands in cookie jars (or other places) -

How anyone could consider returning this party to power is utterly unfathomable to any human being with even a few working neurons and a pulse.

There, just wanted people to think of that.

1. The majority of the public agree with you
They're finally connecting the dots between conservative dogma and the mess we're in, as evidenced by the 75-78% across all polls who think the country is headed in the wrong direction.

If they'll only register and vote, we'll have little to worry about except the conservatives in our own party.

2. IF you were running the national Democratic presidential campaign ...
We would win .....

Some how the Democrats seem to lose their natural, more appealing philosophy and, in the face of extreme GOP incompetence, snatch defeat from the ass of victory .... to paraphrase the old saw ...

4. well
Lots of people will see what they want to see. I live in a red state and let me tell you no one will figure out anything until everything they have is gone. They'll say, "Katrina victims were stupid because they didn't leave. It was all Nagin's fault anyway. Bush did a great job handling the economy because there was a terrorist attack when he got into office and he helped it rebound. The surge is going well in Iraq. Bush would call me if he needed me. Healthcare is fine here. I don't want to pay for someone else's kids who is too lazy to work or whatever. We need to have vouchers because the Department of Education is a handout. Gas prices are because of the market. We ain't no commies so government shouldn't control it."

All of these things were said to me and more.
