Rell is being mentioned as a possible running mate for McCain.

Rell became governor of CT when disgraced Governor John Rowland got himself indicted on corruption charges in 2004. She won election as Governor in 2006.

She would be a tame pick for VP, IMO. A lot of people like her because she has a motherly, almost prissy, demeanor. She has been dubbed "Mother Rell" and "Snow White" by some Dems. Generally, she just seems to fade into the background. But she is prochoice (pretty much has to be in CT) and certainly no raging RWinger. I don't know what McCain would get by putting her on the ticket...

she always sounds like she is talking common-sense type language when I hear her on the radio. She comes across pretty well there.

It's not just Dems that call her Snow White - the cartoonist at the Hartford Courant draws her as Snow White.

Rell also proposed funding stem-cell research in a previous budget, though the Dems later expanded the amount... and, she also volunteered that she would sign a civil unions bill into law, before it passed in the legislature.
