Ugh... Britney Spears buys parakeets
The judge is keeping her little boys Jayden and Preston are out of reach for now, but Britney Spears is making an effort to fill the void they left. She's always had a fondness for parakeets (although keeping them alive is a challenge) so, according to an insider, she sent an assistant to Petco in West Hollywood to buy two baby blue parakeets. She named them Preston and Jayden, and Brit supposedly DOTES on them. Her pal explained "She calls out their names and sings to her little birds, but it's painfully clear that she misses her sons."

I don't usually pay attention to celebutard news, but this is just sick. This woman has no business taking care of anything, especially if "keeping them alive is a challenge".

THESE AREN'T FUCKING GOLDFISH! Budgies are at least as smart and emotionally complex as a dog or cat, and they bond with their caregivers for life. I wonder how people would feel if Britney picked up a couple of puppies that she had a problem "keeping alive".

And shame on Petco for selling these birds to an ASSISTANT without even meeting the primary caregiver. Yet another reason why those scumbags should never be allowed to sell animals.

2. Petco should be forced out of business.
They have all the respect and care for animals that McDonalds or Olive Garden have for food.

Bad enough when restaurants sell crap - but it's an immorality to let chains do it to living things.

6. Jud Strunk knew a thing or two about ladies with parakeets-
Some folks I know keep looking
For rare old coins and stamps.
While others see what's cooking
In antique books and lamps.
Some hobbies are like slavery,
There's one too tough for words.
This girl has got an aviary,
And you should see her birds.....

She's got chanticleers and dickey birds,
Intelligent and tricky birds,
That make the boys all want to hang around.
Her crow is black and shiny,
Her hummingbirds are tiny,
But she's got the biggest parakeets in town!

She's got cockatoos and bobolinks,
In royal blue and dusty pinks,
And you should see them hangin' upside down.
Oh, it's thrilling to behold her,
When she wings them past her shoulder,
'Cause she's got the biggest parakeets in town!

And every night
When she gets into bed,
She puts each one on a pillow.
Oh, they sound like Bing,
When they start to sing,
"Tweet willow, tweet willow, tweet willow."

After holding them and petting them,
She gets a thrill in letting them,
Go swingin' from the ceiling to the ground.
Ask anyone who's seen 'em.
It's hard to choose between 'em.
'Cause she's got the biggest parakeets in town!

Imagine her in love one day,
As she tells her fiance, "Okay!"
On the day the wedding rolls around.
Although he loves the ground she stands on,
He can't wait to get his hands on,
The biggest parakeets in town.

Well, picture on their wedding night,
When hubby, dear, turns off the light,
And wakes in the mornin' with a frown.....
As he goes to caress her,
He sees them on the dresser...
The biggest parakeets in town!
(She's really got 'em, boy!)
The biggest parakeets in town!
(They're enormous!)

9. I found my budgie dead the day I brought home baby #1
Kids made it to adulthood just fine, but now I'm afraid to bring home a budgie.

(Actually, the fish, the dog, and the cats have a lot more to do with not increasing the menagerie.)

10. Really, I don't think that Petco is required to ask
the person buying the birds if she is going to be the primary caregiver. I have bought birds from a pet store and was never asked that.

11. The point is that pet stores have no business selling birds
Many surveys rank budgies THIRD on parrot intelligence, right below African Greys and Cockatoos. That puts them about at the level of a three-year-old child.

Would you want Petco handling toddler adoptions?
