He might as well have

John McCain said Monday that to win the White House he must convince a war-weary country that U.S. policy in Iraq is succeeding. If he can't, 'then I lose. I lose,' the Republican said."

6. Ah, it's refreshing to see some honesty from a Republican
I realize it was a brief moment and was quickly retracted, but still it was nice.

Don't worry McCain, the WH will do everything in it's power to provide that cover for you. By the time October rolls around they'll have you standing on the flight deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln with a 'mission accomplished' banner waving in the background declaring victory.

12. Yep, Kristol doesn't get it. You are so right. At least Brooks makes a gesture,
feeble tho it may be, to understanding this whole thing with Bush...

9. Linkage with Edwards?
At about the same time Edwards announces a huge conjoining with anti-war groups to make the public aware of the cost and reality of the Iraq war.

The beauty of a united party strategy. No mister nice guy stoically tagged with just befriending the poor.

This explains some of the conferencing going on in depth that might have had other longer range strategy in mind than a mere endorsement. And rather than an endorsement this would allow a surrogate attack on the war in return for more attention to Edwards' agenda which is intimately linked with real world economics and change that this poisonous war is at the heart of. it will also keep this war from going gently into the night or getting sloughed off by McCain because of the MSM curtain of lies and invisibility.

Take them down, all the way down.
