Romney Reconsiders McCain Endorsement, May Rejoin '08 Race
from AlterNet's PEEK:

Romney Reconsiders McCain Endorsement, May Rejoin '08 Race

Posted by Howie Klein, Down With Tyranny! at 1:09 PM on February 25, 2008.

And Josh, one of Romney's five sons, may run for congress in Utah.

This morning's L.A. Times claims Willard is reassessing his endorsement of John McCain and may jump back into the GOP presidential race in light of McCain's inability to attract any support from conservatives and in light of all the scandals that have already come up concerning McCain's dealing with lobbyists. ("Everyone" in Washington-- except apparently his soul sister Joe Lieberman-- knows McCain hasn't been loyal to Cindy in many, many years and that he's always chasing around like a cat in heat. Normal Americans don't care about this kind of thing; the Republican base does.) "Josh Romney, one of former Gov. Mitt Romney's five sons, says it's 'possible' his father may rejoin the race for the White House, either as a vice presidential candidate or seek to become the Republican Party's standard bearer if the campaign of Sen. John McCain falters."

And that isn't the only political race Josh is concerned with. According to today's Desert Morning News Josh himself may be running... for Congress. There is talk of Josh taking on reactionary Blue Dog Democrat Jim Matheson.

Utahns may get the chance to vote for a Romney this November after all-- Josh Romney, the son of former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, says he's considering a run for Congress.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Mitt Romney may end up on the ballot as a vice presidential candidate-- or even, some suggest, the party's nominee if the campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., continues to falter.

Josh Romney told the Deseret Morning News that after a year of campaigning across country for his father, he's been approached to run as a Republican against 2nd Congressional District Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah.

"I haven't ruled it out," Josh Romney, 32, of Millcreek, said of becoming a candidate himself. "I'm pretty young, but I've had good experience on the campaign trail." Plus, he said, he likely could count on his father's supporters here in Utah.

...Josh Romney is the only one of the family's five sons who lives in Utah. His father, who served as the head of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, was considered a "favorite son" presidential candidate in Utah.

Mitt Romney collected more contributions in Utah than in any other state except California and won Utah's Feb. 5 GOP primary with 90 percent of the vote. He and his family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as are the majority of Utahns.

Will he ask them to refrain from supporting McLame?

3. Hey why not? They might as well all get back into it, McCain doesn't want to win.
Just look at the stupid shit he is already saying, even before he really needs to open his mouth. Fucknuts verses stupidboy.

6. Hmmmm... who'd you rather run against? The desiccated corpse
of John McCain, or Mittens and his magic underwear? Tough call, but I'm tempted to go with Mittens, who appears to have no constituency except rich people.

7. Any of them, they all suck beyond reproach. A field of cockroaches.
A wonderment of failure. Maybe Ron Paul and Huckabee can team up for ultra-suckfest.

13. The more I think about this
The less fair it seems to Huckabee. At least he actually stayed in the race rather than "cut and run" like Romney. Huckabee hasn't "flip-flopped" in his desire to win the WH.

They have such a pitiful crew running this year they're actually lining up to pick each others bones, just-in-case the pick doesn't make it all the way to the convention.

If we lose this election to one of these candidates I'll be so ashamed I'm sticking a McCain 2008 sticker on my car and when people say they thought I was a Democrat the conversation will go something like this:

Them: "LSD, didn't you campaign for so-and-so-Democrat in 2008? What are you doing with a McCain sticker on your car?"

Me: "Why no, and please don't mistake me for one of those losers again."

Them: "But, didn't you have pro-Democrat signs in your yard?"

Me: "Of course I did. Little Timmy needed something to use for target practice with his potato gun. What other reason would I possibly have had for them to be in my yard?"

Them: "But, I thought I heard you ran for Democratic county chair a while back?"

Me: "Absolutely NOT! If you don't stop this right now I'll call the police on you for harassment!"

14. The real reason Mittens would jump back in has nothing to do w/ Miss Vicki
and everything to do with McCain's troubles w/ the FEC. If the FEC troubles itself to enforce the law McCain co-authored (not like he can claim ignorance), he's essentially out of money until after the convention; a sitting duck for any credible opponent(s) that might be able to pool delegates and contest the nom at the convention. It's a long-shot, but I think it may be mathematically possible. So brace yourselves, folks, for the Mittens/Huck ticket: it could be coming to a voting booth near you!
