He has imprisoned an official of the opposing party, and so threatens the very fabric of democracy.
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 10:37 PM by originalpckelly
His government has admitted to the commission of war crimes.
His government, by and with his authority, has disregarded laws passed by the Congress, in the process subverting the checks and balances on his power and the separation of powers in this constitutional government.
His ascension to power was controversial, and in light of his legacy, highly suspicious.
He has lead this nation into failed wars in two nations. In one using the terrorist acts of this nation's enemies as an implied threat to obfuscate his government's misinformation campaign. In another he dishonored the justice of those who fell on 9/11 by failing to capture the highest "ranking" culpable individual in al-Qaeda.
His government has hassled and prevented the free travel of American citizens between the various states and territories of this nation.
His associates have cast doubt on the most essential of criminal prosecutions by degrading the credibility of this nation's federal prosecutors.
His government, by and with his authority, has wiretapped individuals secretly without warrants.
He and his associates in Congress have enslaved future generations by method of insurmountable government debt, and his associates in the economy have enslaved the current generation by method of private debt.

This list is but a partial list of the varied and repugnant offenses by this President, his Vice President, his government, and other associates during the past few years in this nation.

We have suffered silently until now, but at this point something must occur. The power grabs have become too bold, and now even Republicans have challenged the most egregious offense of imprisoning a man simply because he was an "unbeatable" Democrat.

Let those Republicans who'd dare defend this tyrant know that they will be next. This President is no different than any other tyrant in history, and the people he is associated with are no different either. They will consolidate their power, and any supposed protection that may come in the early days of his ever emboldening centralization of power will be gone eventually.

1. Why do we know this, and know that it is time to impeach.
Are we the only ones who know? It's like a big secret.

7. In some ways it enables them, in some ways it restrains them...
but the point is really moot, as it no longer is followed. No one gives a fuck about the US Constitution, most of the laws on the books exceed the powers granted in the US Constitution. The model of our system is one of limited powers. That doesn't mean the federal government can't be given new powers, but it does mean it can only be done through amending the US Constitution.

The presumption in our system, is that the people are the source of power, not the government as it is in places like Canada. It's that whole popular sovereignty thing.

The only way to ensure the people are recognized as the source of power, is to assume that in our constitutional document.

8. Indeed, it is time for some type of radical change in a short period of time.
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 10:53 PM by originalpckelly
For it to work, it must be completely non-violent and based in a battle of dueling ideologies, not between conservative and liberal, but between popular sovereignty and the new divine right of the king/aristocracy.

21. Bush has baan awful, but all elected officials have carte blanche for the most part...THAT is the...
THAT is the problem.....the only solution in a REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY is to bring them closer and make them more responsible to US ................................................A NATIONAL POLL WEEKLY ........................................................................................................................................................................In the United States, voter registration has never been higher (70 % of the eligible voters ) and yet there has been a steady DECLINE in voter turnout. We had a more than 10 % spike last election after Bin Laden released his video 2 days before the election, and I'm sure there will be another spike this year when Obama becomes the next President. This may placate the masses for a while, but nothing has actually changed. In this day and age of modern technology, a NATIONAL POLL - instituted so the masses can be actively involved in their REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY on a weekly basis, adding in their 2 cents on all the major issues of the week - is the best remedy for ailing voter discontentment. Of course there is probably not one elected official who would ever WANT such a thing, and that has more to do with the FACT that we are a FEDERAL CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC ( google United States, Wikipedia, first sentence ) and NOT a representative democracy. The PEOPLE want to be heard, my most distinguished and learned gentlemen and ladies, or so many of them would not be registering. If you truly want the people to feel positive about politics in general, why not give them an opportunity to become actively involved, say once a week, allowing them to voice their opinions on the major issues. When that day comes to pass, you will have solved voter discontentment in the United States.

then I remembered Diebold.
Just a new way to get played.

BTW- Voter registration is bullshit, every legal citizen should have an automatic right to vote.

27. This post is A Thing of Beauty!
I'm in awe!

It's SO true, every last word, and you've put it with a somberness befitting the brutally sobering nature of these crimes.

I don't know which is more horrifying - the criminality and the sheer abuse of power in and of themselves, OR that the opposing party is still loathe to pursue full accountability for any of it. bush once said he didn't want to just swat flies. Well, that's how he's going out. Because the opposition to him, the willingness to stand up to him, is like a small swarm of gnats. Not a stinger in the bunch.

30. To borrow a phrase: "There are none so blind as those who will not see."
The crimes of this rogue administration are so in evidence, at every turn, that it is clear that there is a concerted effort to avoid "seeing" because to do so might lead to action.

Something must occur, indeed. And I think it is delusional to assume that a Democrat in the White House is going to be that *something*! I hope to be proven absolutely wrong!
