And who did these keepers of honest get to set the record straight? Michael "The Surge is Working" O'Hanlon and... what's that guy's name, that other guy, the one with that other point of view...

No wait... There was no other guy. They got one Iraq war cheerleading schmuck to "keep 'em honest." And guess what his take on the question was.

Who keeps the honest keepers honest, CNN?

1. That's fine. McSame owns it now, he owns it in the Summer.
The cycle of violence will take McLame down with it.

2. As soon as Sadr decides his cease-fire is over all hell will re-break loose
That will not be good for the surge troops.

3. I need to point out the obvious
The Bushies are so quick to attribute the current relative stability in Iraq to sending more troops. I never hear them attribute any of the perceived success to replacing Rumsfeld, an incompetent moron, with Robert Gates, who is at least competent.

4. Nothing gets me more annoyed than hearing people crow about the supposed "success" of the "surge"

Honestly, McCain et. al need to get over themselves about it. It needs to be exposed for what it is once and for all, which is "window dressing" that was designed (and successfully used unfortunately) by Bush/Cheney to keep wavering Republicans "in line" to prevent the possibility of a Congressionally mandated withdrawal or drawdown (that seemed all but inevitable after the 2006 midterm elections) and to keep the occupation going until........???? Somehow the thought that we are "reducing" violence over there, at least in part, by essentially paying former "enemies" off and also arming them doesn't feel very reassuring to me and it probably seems even less so to our troops whom are actually over there. Things like this always seem to come back and bite us in the a** later (i.e. Bin Laden, Afghanistan, the Soviets) and it's not like the Bush (mis-)administration has gone out of its way to win "the hearts and minds of the Iraqi public. In fact, it effectively destroyed (the ONLY thing they are "effective" at) any hope of doing so the minute that we started "shocking and awing" them. Oh, and WHAT political progress????
