Mr. Bush... If one of your daughters had cancer... you might consider stem cell therapy...
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 05:35 PM by Juniperx
My pal Sandy had cancer, and he's now a "poster child" for stem cell research!

Click on "Patient Stories" then on "Sandy" to see his heartfelt message to Pres. Bush.

1. You can bet Bush and his "base" have access to it
His entire administration has been based on the idea that he and the other 1%ers have access to anything they want- drugs, prostitutes, the best healthcare, gov't bailouts, cutting edge technology...

The second part was to deny us access to the same.

Mission accomplished.

3. What I don't get is...
Who is going to wait on "The Elite" hand and foot when all us peons are dead or too sick to work? Who is going to physically make any goods or provide services for them to buy with all the money in the world?

I'm very proud of my friend for making mention on this site... cajones!

12. Here's the scary part:
They already have their "chosen servants." They don't need the rest of us to make their products- they just need a bunch of highly skilled people like doctors, technologists and mechanical repair people to service them. Most of the rest can be taken care of by mechanization.

From their POV, we're dead weight that could wind up hurting them in the future. Best to allow us to die out from various diseases, famine and war.

15. My boyfriend just watched the video...
And I said, wasn't it cool that Sandy looked right at the camera and gave Bush the business? He replied, if Bush's daughter had cancer, they would just give her the cure they already have.

Ugh... the cynics are winning... because they are right!

6. I don't think you're right.
I don't think he'd give any more thought to one of his daughters dying from cancer than his parents did about his sister's death.

I think it would have to affect HIM, personally...bodily...for it to make a difference.

9. I think he'd at least make a public showing of his concern...
It's all about the attention.

16. Er...this isn't embryonic research, though.
Sandy got stem cell transplant from his twin, correct?

Is even Bush against that? I haven't heard any politician, no matter how extreme, condemn adult stem cell research. In fact they probably love these stories, because they can use them as a reason to not bother with embryonic stem cells.

17. No, if it's not embryonic, * isn't against it.
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 07:31 PM by igil
Even human embryonic stem cell research is funded if it's using one of the approved stem cell lines that pre-existed the policy.

Fair amount of non-HESC research gets NIH funding.

On edit: I'm probably wrong with the "if it's not embryonic, * isn't agains't it line", but feel squeamish editing the subject line after posting it. There are fetal stem cells; I suppose * would be against using them in therapies and research. IIRC, however, fetal stem cell research nonetheless receives NIH funding.

19. That is the main argument trying to be used...
He is against all stem cell research, but uses the "dead babies" bull to make his point. The programs that are going forward are privately funded.

18. this is all bullshit.
bush has no concern for anyone but "hisself"
not his wife, not his kids, not mommy dearest, not daddyums, and certainly not his brothers.

the idea that his attention could be held long enough to make the point is interesting, though.
