Joe Scarborough STFU
Attacking Jimmy Carter because he stated a simple fact about Bush violating American's basic human rights is fucking out of order. You are a little fascist.

Now he brings on the other Carter hater. Deal with the facts that Carter stated morons.

http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/251/story/258853.html
<snip>
Former President Jimmy Carter says the Bush administration has violated Americans' basic human rights by blocking access to information and creating more government secrets than at any other time in U.S. history.

Carter spoke during a conference helping people in the United States and in other nations to develop "access to information" laws. The seminar at The Carter Center in Atlanta - believed to be the first conference on helping foreign countries develop "access to information" laws - drew participants from nearly 40 nations, center officials said.

Drawing applause from the international crowd, Carter said he looks forward to more freedom after a new administration takes office in January.

"That's interesting - that's the first applause I've gotten," he said.
-

How the fuck is this meddling. Scarborough and Fucker should be condemned for this madness. Deal with the facts - has Bush created more government secrets than any other President in history.

Loud screaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!

1. Bookmarking because I want to see
the responses. I'm betting there will be at least some attacking Jimmy Carter and supporting Scarborough. And no, I am not among them.

2. There has always been a tradition
of former presidents not criticizing current presidents--regardless of party. It's considered a matter of good manners, I guess. If it isn't going to change things, then I don't see why JC should comment on anything. Bush will be GONE next January, no matter what, so there is no point in saying anything.

3. How is stating facts bad manners
The Constitutions trumps the book of manners.

Answer this: Has Bush created more government secrets than any other President in history. The answer is YES!

History will back Carter. He spoke out and speaks out consistently.

7. It's called discretion
Does speaking out change facts? If not, better not to say anything.

Jimmy Carter already has a huge PR problem, no matter what those on this board think of him. He still gets the blame (wrongly, but since when does that matter?) for the Iran hostage problem, for the economic problems of the '80's, and some even blame him for the rise of Islamic radicalism (due to his failure to back up the Shah.)

Speaking out so forcefully makes him look like a whiner, and even a sore loser.

Back in 1980, I thought I was the last Carter supporter in the world--or at least in my world. I was glad to see him emerge as a great humanitarian in the eyes of a lot of people. But now he seems to be squandering that legacy. That's just sad, IMO.

11. Secrecy & fascism
are two different things. Every government keeps secrets. It has to for a lot of reasons. Where do you draw the line between how much secrecy is acceptable, and how much is TOO much?

14. Since they are SECRETS
I guess we don't know how many other administrations have had. Could have been more. Could have been less. This is JC's opinion, and one that he could keep to himself without harming anything.

27. Jimmy Carter has a huge PR problem?
What planet are you from, you know, originally?

Jimmy Carter is one of, if not THE most respected ex-Presidents not only in this country, but world-wide.

But don't let reality interfere with your right-wing talking points.

13. The Presidency
is a very, very elite club. There are certain unwritten rules that apply. When one President criticizes another, especially if he is of a different party, it makes that President seem petty, whiny, like a sore loser, and low-class. That's why so few ever do it.

23. I respectfully disagree in this instance. It is crucial
that people of significant political import go on record that they are against the serious Constitutional abuses that are taking place right now. Being on the record is crucial to their legacy and the legacy of the US. It also sends a deliberate and powerful message to the other people we share this world with. Finally, it can be a beacon to those who are on the verge of becoming so frustrated that they give up their individual and collective fights. I am sure that JC weighed all of these factors very carefully before he spoke. That makes the fact that he spoke that much more significant.

24. Total HOGWASH...
In May 1994, according to the Associated Press, former President George Bush criticized Bill Clinton’s foreign policy at a Milwaukee fundraiser. “I feel our leadership around the world is being eroded by stop-and-start policies of hesitancy,” said the former President. “In foreign affairs, you have to set a goal, set a course and stick with it.” Bush Senior even went so far as to say he had been a better President than Bill Clinton.

4. good post...thinking the same thing...
...and thanks... :hi:

For a variety of reasons, I'm no big fan of Carter's...BUT...that shithead Joey's reasoning is puerile and fatuous, and contemptible. I'm gonna write a diatribe on this show in the next few days and post it here...I've been doing some serious reflecting upon it, and would like to make a case that it is not insignificant in its own stupid way. It is insidiously propagandistic especially given its time slot.

More later

8. I believe we have to listen to document the
fascist propaganda. They cannot be allowed to get away with trivializing or dismissing facts. They intend to spin their way into making McLame a viable candidate. They must be told in no uncertain terms that they are being watched very carefully.

Not this fucking time.

17. Xenophobic Asshats...
Typical GOOPer mindset...the world revolves around them and they're both ignorant beyond the stereotypes. It's the "ugly American"...one our corporate media has cultivated over the years as every news story is always framed in the "what does it mean to us". These goons have no clue at how self-destructive their arrogance has been in achieving their supposed "values" and ruined our national reputation.

Hopefully in a couple years we'll look back on these times like the "dark ages"...and that we survived the worst times of this country and helped to make it stronger. The boooooosh legacy will hang over his corrupt party for years to come...especially when you have unrepentant fukwads like Scarborough and the others who prefer the parallel universe to the reality-based one.
