I have decided..........
To NOT wear an American Flag pin on my lapel.

I have also decided to:

Not give up smoking
Not give up coffee
Not give up chocolate
Not give up pasta
and to not follow Jesus

I am, according to Kingston etal, an American hating, left wing, liberal, baby killing, feminazi, hippie who is stupid.

Left of Cool to Kingston.......I am also a 60 something female, with 2 under graduate degrees, a graduate degree, 23 years of service to public education, a treehugger and a cast iron bitch who is smarter than you will ever think of being. Now begone!

Left of Cool

3. I think the last time I wore anything with a lapel was 1973.
One time I was summoned for jury duty and told that I had to wear a shirt and tie. I replied that I didn't own nor ever wanted to own a Croatian self-strangulation device.

6. Two funerals and two weddings in the past five years
I did wear a flag lapel pin one time. Last year one of my former Sailors was promoted and I wore it to his promotion ceremony. I believed it was appropriate since I was out of uniform. But it sure as hell doesn't denote patriotism unless you are a fake patriot which most conservatives are.

5. You Go Girl!!
I'm a vet and the flag lapel nonsense pisses me off. You have to be pretty fucking ignorant and arrogant to insist it means one is patriotic. And which is the stupidest group of American Citizens? Our troops are not in harms way so we citizens will be forced to wear something on our clothes. And no way I'm giving up Pasta. I'm glad you are here.

11. I don't make excuses
This old one lives and does as she pleases and does not live to please non-smokers, anti-smokers, the American Lung Assn or the American Heart Assn, the American Cancer Society, or any other association that tells me what I should or should not do with my life, body, mind, or soul. But I do appreciate your concern for my health.

25. As long as you keep it to yourself
When smokers think they have the right to force their polution on others I have to object. Otherwise knock yourself out..You should have the right to do anything in your home you please as long as you don't hurt others..

13. LOL!
Actually, it is a name I just made up and then saw it about 3 months later on a t-shirt. I ordered the t-shit! I will have to check our Bella CD's on this one. Didn't know there was a song by this title.

15. I agree...
I am much like you and I don't see the point in wearing a flag either. Doesn't that make it some sort of idol or amulet? Being a patriot seems to me to entail every principle that is meant to make this a better country in a better world and I don't know how wearing something accomplishes that. Haven't Americans become passive and reactive here too?

16. I gave up dieting and took up compulsive exercise
Now, at last, the weight is coming off. And a lot of other benefits are accruing.

I'm going to try to rekindle my interest in mysticism and promiscuity, too.

Why practice two asceticisms when you can achieve the same results with a single excess?

mysticism and promiscuity. I like it! Of course at my age, promiscuity is probably pushing it.
