3. I see they lie. Have Lieberman listed as (D-CT) on their site. Also have
Charles Krauthammer as an 'advisor'.... thought he was supposed to be an unbiased 'journalist'.

14. I don't think any person with half a brain could possibly think of him as
unbiased.

Journalist is probably also up for question!

9. It's PNAC mutated into a more virulent form...
These warmongering, cowardly scum changed their name, I see.

These are the assholes who got us into the mess in Iraq. Their plan
clearly states that Iran and Syria are next.

I would reallllly love to know why no one outwardly fights these monsters.

They are the underlying current that powers all of our nation's ills. Their
pro-war, pro-corporatist, pro-Fascist, pro-torture, pro-election fraud, pro-illegal wiretap,
anti-Constitution, anti-"We The People" bullshit is tearing down this nation.

Where are the strong voices...screaming from the rafters about these Nazi scumbags??

13. Gee, Joe Lieberman... such a surprise.
There aren't limits to what an asshole he is, truly.

Those ads are blanketing the airwaves here, because of our two Dem. freshman congresman, Chris Murphy and Joe Courtney. Best result of all is that it turns against the perpetrators, and results in a win in Shays' district as well.

I'd love for the word to be out that Lieberman is behind this ad - I don't think it will help the ad's backers any in CT!

15. Until a few days ago, Democrats Eliot Engel, Chuck Schumer and Donna Brazile
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 11:23 AM by seafan
...sat on the board of advisers of this group.

Speaking only for myself, Chuck Schumer is treading on very thin ice, with his Mukasey push burned into my consciousness.

And Donna Brazile, with one of her self-proclaimed friends as none other than Karl Rove... well...

From Crooks and Liars:

“Defense of Democracies” Fear-Mongering Attack Ads Targeting Freshman Democrats:

...Freshman Dems targeted ..:

Rep Nancy Boyda (D-KS); Joe Courtney and Chris Murphy (CT); Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes (NH); Jason Altmire (PA); Ron Klein and Tim Mahoney (FL); Gabrielle Giffords and Harry Mitchell (AZ); Jerry McNerney (CA); Melissa Bean (IL); Joe Donnelly (IN); … Michael Arcuri and Kirsten Gillbrand (NY) ; Steve Kagan (WI).

Defense of Democracies is affiliated with the non-profit, non-partisan Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a policy institute focused on defeating terrorism and promoting democratic values.

Not surprisingly, the group The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies‘ list of “Directors, Fellows, Personnel” includes many PNAC-neocons like Kristol, Krauthammer, and Perle (a lot more on the group here). The list also includes, however, several prominent Democrats, which begs the question: Why would Democrats be affiliated with a group that would be running these ads?

.....

Who’s behind the shadowy organization isn’t entirely clear, but it is definitely an offshoot of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, an organization that until a few days ago listed among its board of advisors Donna Brazile, Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY), Rep. Jim Marshall (D-GA), Zell Miller, Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-NY). Engel, Schumer and Brazile have all resigned from the board, with Brazile making this statement:

Statement by Donna Brazile on Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) Misleading Attacks on Members of Congress Patriotism 2008-02-25 00:00:00.0

As a member of the Board of Advisors of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, I strongly condemn their misleading and reckless ad campaign. The organization is using fear mongering for political purposes and worse, their scare tactics have the effect of emboldening terrorists and our enemies abroad by asserting our intelligence agencies are failing to do their job. I am deeply disappointed they would use my name since no one has consulted me about the activities of the group in years.

When I first joined the foundation several years ago, it was a bi-partisan organization that was committed to defending democratic values and protecting the nation against threats posed by radical Islamic terrorism. Unfortunately, due to the influence of their funders, in the last few years, FDD has morphed into a radical right wing organization that is doing the dirty work for the Bush Administration and Congressional Republicans. I have made it clear to the organization that these types of lies undercut our national security and serve only to divide us. Furthermore, I reiterated to FDD that I no longer wish to be affiliated with such a group and have asked them to remove my name from the Board. In this post 9/11 world, Americans should not be attacking other Americans, we should be standing together to make this country safer and stronger against the real threat of terrorism.

--- Donna Brazile - February 25, 2008

Take-home message: If any of these "targeted Democrats" are in your area, please call them and strongly encourage them to stand strong against Bush on his warrantless wiretapping.

Mr. 19% needs to be thrown out on his ear.
