BREAKING: CNN broadcasts worldwide that Prince
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 12:27 PM by Texas Explorer
Harry has been SECRETLY serving in Afghanistan.

What a bunch of goddamned treacherous morons. I know he's not ours, but what is the wisdom of telling the fucking world where Prince Harry, a member of the royal family of our ally, is?

I really hate the way the "future" has turned out.

2. Why broadcast that now? Is that important for us to know, more important
than his and his unit's safety, to get the scoop? Morans!

I heard they would be honeymooning in Europe. I'm sure after they are done, they'll be heading to Afghanistan too.

17. On the front, too. Great idea!
Let fewer bullets fly toward some poor slob who joined the Brit military because of poverty.

5. Blame it on Bild, 'New Idea' and Drudge Report
The Prince has been on active duty in the country since mid-December but his three-month deployment has not been reported because of a Ministry of Defence agreement with news organisations, including The Times.
...
But Drudge Report, an American news website, broke the news today of Harry's deployment in a front page item. It said: "They're calling him 'Harry the Hero!'"

Drudge Report said that Harry had been "fighting in Afghanistan since late December -- and has been directly involved in battle".

It added that an Australian magazine New Idea and the German daily Bild have broken world embargoes on the development. CNN had also "debated internally on the merits of reporting Harry at war".

6. Bully for Harry!
We all know he's patriotic and populist. Now bring his ass back home. He's a sitting duck and making his unit a target for every suicidal jihadi in the area.

10. I'm so proud of him, and I am a born 'n raised American.
I love the way British Royalty doesn't hide in "secure, undisclosed" locations, and the P.M. has to stand and take it from the opposition.

The royal family, of an ally or of an enemy, is of no concern to me.

22. Drudge
Drudge and a few other foreign newwpapers leaked the report about Prince Harry first. I think CNN was just responding to the fact that the British military finally acknowledged that Prince Harry was there after Drudge and the others leaked the infromation.

24. Add me to the long list of people that are annoyed by your OP
If you just type "Prince" everyone is going to assume that you're talking about the musician.

What the fuck were you thinking? Or not thinking?

25. Here's a complete report
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/7269743.stm

<snip>
The deployment was subject to a news blackout deal, which broke down after being leaked by foreign media.

Chief of the General Staff Sir Richard Dannatt, who is head of the British Army, said he was disappointed the news had leaked.

In a statement, he said: "I am very disappointed that foreign websites have decided to run this story without consulting us.

"This is in stark contrast to the highly responsible attitude that the whole of the UK print and broadcast media, along with a small number overseas, who have entered into an understanding with us over the coverage of Prince Harry on operations."

26. What next?! his longitude and latitude? A GPS chip for him?
How dumb is it to spotlight a Prince?

I think royalty is obnoxious, but I don't want them made targets, either.

29. No, it's just the top story now
Australian magazine "New Idea" reported it in January (not sure how they worded it); in Germany, Bild reported it as a possibility a couple of days ago; then Drudge broke it as a certainty - which was when everyone else gave up the blackout.
