Was/Is God some demented teenager screwing around with a chemistry set?
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 12:56 PM by Cyrano
Let’s face it. If you had the chance to design a world, is this the one you would have created?

Try wrapping your brain around this. What if we’re here all alone? Or what if some “Matrix”-like machines are fucking with our minds? Or what if some malignant intelligence is experimenting with how much misery it is possible to create?

Had it been in your hands, would your master plan have allowed for a Caligula? A Torquemada? A Hitler? A George W. Bush? An Anne Coulter? Today’s Republican Party?

If you want to help improve the human condition, get your head out of your biases and do something worthwhile. Help a fellow human being. Call your congressman or senator and don’t quit until someone on the other end really hears what you have to say. Vote. Protest. Post your thoughts. Try to convince others that we are all living on a spinning piece of rock that we are quickly destroying.

Or at the very least, try “preaching” the “religion” of human decency to the far too many that have either lost it, or never understood it to begin with.

And just as importantly, try to convince others that today’s Republican Party is doing there best to spoon feed people pure sewerage.

Humanity has lived through millennia of hell, and we personally have just lived through seven years of it. Let’s try to convince everyone that only a fool would want more of the same.

They get around that by talking about "free will"
God has a plan for us all, but when people commit evil it's because God gave us free will.

4. there is no 'They'
There is a huge diversity of opinion on such things in the Christian community. Some believe in free will, others dont..

5. They refers to the people I've talked to about this issue
in the experiences I've had. Your point is valid though and I'm concerned about the generally anti-religious tone that Democrats often take.

6. Ah, free will, the ultimate cop out of some possible creator. --
"Hey, don't blame me. I gave you free will. You're the ones that fucked up the world. I'm just an innocent bystander."

My answer to that it is, any being who may have "created" everything, left something out. It's an uncommon quality that many insist on calling common sense.

So, hey, Great Creator. If you're there, if you exist, and assuming you're paying any attention, here's a suggestion.

If this was your first attempt at planet building, you screwed it up, so try again.

If this was your second, third, fourth, or millionth attempt at planet building, you are incredibly incompetent and should try a different line of work.

2. Or, you know, it could be that there is no master plan...
and we're all just bouncing from one random occurrence to the next. But maybe that's just me.

7. Ever hear, "God's kid brother" by the Dead Milkmen?
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 01:29 PM by FSogol
Here's the first part:

Are we not the living proof of the idiot God who placed us here
Are we not His dirty children, His unwashed sons who He holds dear
Are we not the proof that there may've been another creator
If this is the ultimate truth, it had to come out sooner or later
I've looked for the reason why we're here
I've kept on searching until it was clear
I've looked for excuses - can't find no other
We must be the product of God's kid brother

edit: fixed stupid typos.

I imagine He's more like a person who recently got a new puppy-- He knows that the puppy will poop and pee on the carpet, maybe even chew the upholstery on the new couch-- but loves him anyway...

10. Nature obeys laws. That's why I studied chemistry and physics
Yes, the questionably legitimate regime is a strong contender for the worst administration in history, but this is not the worst we've seen, even in my lifetime.
