Anybody watching "Jericho"
Story of a post-apocalyptic America. Government seizing power, turning over the running of the Government to business interest. On the show the Companies are J & R and Ravenwood Security. (K & R, Blackwater)
It's a clever swipe at Bush's America dressed up like action series.

4. I love that show!
I was ecstatic when they renewed it. I remember feeling bitterly disappointed when it was originally cancelled.

The Allied States regime is Fascistic in nature. Remember the history book that was mentioned? Remember the total press control?

The Fascists under Valente and Tomarchio would have won essentially unopposed if Hawkins hadn't intercepted the nuclear device bound for Columbus, Ohio. By preventing the incineration of Columbus, a legal regime could be established. My guess is a cabinet member was there at the time of bombs going off and he/she as legal claimant formed a new government there.

I also like how the actor who portrays Valente has a bit of a resemblance to Mussolini and to a lesser extent, Khruschev.

6. i'm sorry i quit watching after two episodes.
i truly thought it was going to be fascistic anti-terrorist propaganda . . . isn't it on the propaganda channel?

maybe i can catch it in re-runs . . . hopefully a marathon showing.

7. The secret is *spoiler*
the nuclear attack was not terrorist, or North Korea as the Government claims, but a secret black op group run out of Chene.. Valenti's office.

11. YES!! Frighteningly credible.
Interesting side show too has been the back and forth on the Jericho message board. All last season, lots of RW nuts were breathing fire about how it could *not* have been an inside job, it was Islamic extremists behind the attacks, Iran + PKK, etc., etc. I even had a post deleted there when I methodically listed all the reasons why the attacks in the show could *easily* have been the logical next step for the Bush/Cheney neocons.

This season, the producers have made it explicit that the attacks were an inside job, and the right-wingers have had to STFU.

Some of the things I love:

Ravenwood=Blackwater

FEMA herding people into camps that are living hells.

The whole "looking out for #1" vs. "we're in this together" dichotomy played out in different ways (New Bern vs. Jericho being the most extreme).

The whole government "decapitation" scenario in the show played out *exactly* at the time that Bush tried to quietly put through his "revisions" to the long-established plans for government continuity. Bush in real life made the rationale for the attacks on Jericho *so* clear it was downright scary.

Mainstream American television entertainment is showing a worst-case (or at least *very* bad case) scenario of what their own government could do, one that is frighteningly possible yet which most American's I'm sure doubt their government is capable of. Now, just maybe, a few more people will realize there is much more to fear from the enemy within than the enemies abroad. And that stoking fear of foreign enemies can be used to distract us while our freedoms are being destroyed by those supposedly sworn to protect them.

Finally, because Jericho got a last-second reprieve from being canceled (due to overwhelming grass-roots support), it was scheduled as a mid-season replacement, before the writers' strike. Now, it is one of only a handful of prime-time dramas with new episodes, so I'm sure it is getting a *ton* more viewers than it otherwise would have.

Here's hoping that *these* colors don't run... anything!

12. Simply love it!
One of those never miss shows. Although I watch it online. I have some hope that watching it online might count in some way as viewership and it will keep going for a third season.

14. My husband and I have watched it since the beginning...
we were SO excited when they brought it back!

I love that they have the balls to draw the comparisons that they do, they're so clear even an idiot has to see them, and it's great :-)

17. PSYOP? Characters reference al-Qaeda as having similar military capacity as Russia/China/Iran
And did you notice how there is zero military/government presence within the overall motif of the show? A tad unrealistic, to be sure, if a group of rag tag "terrorists" were to pull off a multi-strike nuke attack against America ... which is highly unlikely. If the nukes go off, look to your own govt first as elements within are the likely suspects.

18. Favorite show right now

One of the High Def networks ran a marathon of the entire 1st season. I'd heard good things about the show, so I went ahead and DVR'd it - :wow: Excellent writing, character development and acting. My wife got as hooked as I am - finished watching the 1st season before I did.

I'm still a couple episodes behind, but the latest plot revelations really allow this show to go in a number of really cool directions. Sure hope the show has legs, I'm really tired of getting into interesting, complex shows, only to have them canceled in the middle. :(
