1. Any chance this could be sent to Clinton and Obama?
They NEED to know that their open opposition to basic human rights such as marriage does have consequences.

4. I have one thing to add
It was a wonderful speech. Heartfelt and very needed.

It would have been nicer and more appropriate to mention Lawrence King was transgendered as well.

12. she's so right
no more hate. i'm going to make my son watch this. i know he would never do what brandon did, but he's in a culture where saying "that's so gay" is spoken all the time, in a derogatory way that does not pertain to sexual preference but just to diss what someone else said or did. it's beginning to sound to me like he and his friends are saying the n word over and over. no more hate.
except bushies and other murderers. damn it's hard not to hate bushies and murderers. and - speaking as the mother of a homicide victim - my heart does not go out to the killer and his family the way it goes out to Larry and his loved ones. yeah the culture is rotten. but what that kid did is still way off the chart in terms of responding. way off the charts. one child is dead, and dead is forever. the pain cannot be described. he's never coming home, never. the other kid will be around for a long long time. thank you for sharing this, it was very moving. peace.

13. Gay foster kids need rights too!
From my blog, these stories need to be told:

The county put me in an abusive foster home, let those foster parents take me across not only state lines, but many state lines. I was taken from California to Missouri, and forgotten by the County. I am sure the Culbrights received their money. I received abuse and neglect on a remote farm. I was in Missouri for at least one year, but I think it was more like two. This time I didn't have a neighbor to see the abuse.

I still wasn't even seven years old.

Today, how many other kids are in foster homes across state lines with no oversight?
