Hope is a virus
It's gotten into my system, and it just doesn't want to go away. I have tried the antidote of being cynical and practical.

Despite years of political cynicism, with a strong immune system fine tuned to rejecting things as impractical as hope, this virus proliferates in me. It's making me excited, in a strange way.
I hope it's incurable.

I find myself imagining crazy things:

Like people working together on behalf of the environment, and on behalf of peace.
On behalf of the good of humankind.

Imagining possibilities of the most impractical sort:
That Palestinians and Israelis will want to find common ground, and plant the trees again.
That warmongers will see there are better ways to make money.
That the creatures who thrive on darkness will go back under their rocks, or be fried on the sidewalk.
That reparations wil be made for the destruction of Iraq, and people there will feel hope again.
That there will be aid given where it is needed around the world, instead of more bombs and clusterbombs to blow up children.
That young people will sign up in their communities, and make things better.

So many crazy ideas, once Hope started getting to me. I am ill with it. Imagine:
That people will start looking fear in the eye, and saying "we're not going there with you any more."

Please rec & kick this if you like it, or if you don't.
