Guns for Greys?
I am thinking of starting a program through which eligible senior citizens could have working handguns donated to them for personal security. (Guns for Greys) cute huh?

These wouold be small caliber, 4 or 5 shot weapons if possible.

7. I can't believe the bigotry, racism and prejudice here against Zeta Reticulians!!
That's just sooooo stereotypical! Why always the Reticulians? Why not the

Pleiadean

"Often described as "Nordic" in appearance, they are only described that way by people that have clearly NEVER MET THEM. If any species deserved to be called "Greys" other than those deceitful large eyed grey bastards, this would have to be the race. In reality they are almost brilliant white with piercing blue eyes... all incorrectly described on a multitude of sites. About the only thing correctly described by other sites is that they are indeed at least two metres tall, a good portion of that taken up in a huge long head. (just kidding).

They have an interest in Earth but only a passing interest. They land occassionaly to take a look around. Every now and then they take some plant samples - NOTE not DNA samples as incorrectly described on many other sites."

or the:

Morope

Stats: Friend

"The Morope are a friendly wise people who make some of the universe's best judges and negotiators. It is now very likely that the Morope will be involved in setting some sort of deal between the Zerians and Earth to give Earth some more security.

The average age of the Morope people is about 200 years old and because of this they all have an abundance of wisdom.

It is hoped that they can negotiate a more formal settlement that the Grayons will recognise and abide by."

or even the:

The Lessor Horned Blueron.

"A race not to be fucked with. With a high cobalt diet, these horned aliens have a nasty temperament. I met this one during one of my abductions and was lucky to get away alive. Thankfully these aliens have to come a really, really long way just to get to Earth (over three fifth dimensional collapses - not an easy trip to organise). You won't find these in your back yard every day.

Known to have a flamboyant disregard for Comparative Intergalactic Law, it is believed that they are inter planetary rogues on the same level as petty criminals and louts."

4. They've been a bit lax of late
The bloodfest that is the GD-P eats up most of their attention; you can find gun posts, Israel/Palestine posts, and 9/11 posts in GD occasionally.

As far as the OP's idea, I like it.

Seems like a neat idea; I'd just want to make sure the guns come with safety and marksmanship classes.

Even putting self-defense aside, shooting is an excellent hobby and a way that many seniors I know find something to do outside of the house.

18. Why Wouldn't She Be Serious?

There are more radical, harebrained ideas than this expressed down in the Gun Dungeon every day.....

19. Because Josie is a new member who,,,
who's been spending much time starting off-beat threads.

I welcome Josie and and do not disparage her in anyway.

But the treads seem to lack sincerity to me, and seems more geared for entertainment.

On my end, I'd just like a little more info.

Arming seniors? I am a "gun guy", and I know one thing, if you pull a gun on a bad guy, you better be ready to kill them, because it's just as likely they may get the gun from you and shoot you. It's nothing to trifle with. It's a very serious matter.

At least according to the Arizona DPS page on CCW statistics. The 60-69 age group holds more CCWs than any other age group. (That's true for males, anyway; it's 50-59 for females.)

Just imagine the panic among some of the antis here if they knew the grandpa they were standing next to at Starbucks had a concealed pistol on him. :)

17. Good point.
Maybe you've FINALLY hit on the reason we just don't hear of CCW crime - it's because the largest group of CCW holders are senior citizens, and they just can't remember where they left their guns.

Makes about as much sense as some of the other anti-gun arguments that get posted here. :)
