Democratic Compromise * A Must Read *

House Democrats may move to split spy bill
By Greg Miller, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
March 1, 2008
(snip)
Under pressure to end an impasse over espionage legislation, House Democrats are considering a plan to vote on a bill next week that would give the government broad new eavesdropping authorities but strip out a provision that would protect phone companies from lawsuits. (full story)

Looks like it time to take some action:
FISA Fight: No "Compromise" Because There Is No Crisis, Please http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/3/1/175613/1399/825/467005
Here we go again, the House showed some spine by standing up to Bu$hCo on his Protect My Ass FISA Bill, but apparently there are some Dem's not comfortable knowing that they won one for we the people.

2. Do not let them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Aren't they noticing that America has fallen out of like with Bush and his idiotic policies? What planet do they live on anyway?

Let your Democratic Rep know that this would be a very bad idea come election time, and won't be forgotten.

4. Absolutely those who have
Blue Dog Rep's on the list need to contact them. I had a feeling something like this was going to happen when I was watching Conyers during a presser say that he was confident that they would find a way to resolve the differences between the Senate bill and the House bill. Fact is there is no real need to resolve anything, the White House has all the legal tools to gather intelligence that they need. Why the House Dem's feel the need to give Bu$h another opportunity to get what he wants is a mystery to me.

3. This is just the sort of bill which illustrates the serious divide in
the Democratic Party. A divide which people appear to try to
cover up rather than being straightforward. IMO, I have observed
two specific schools of thought in the Democratic Party. These
difference cannot be avoided when it comes to foreign policy and
war.

We should just admit we have Liberal Democrats and Conservative
Democrats. Conservatism IS MUCH MORE THAN God, Guns and Gays.
Conservatism includes Foreign Policy and National Defense.
Conservative Democrats are often closer to Republicans on these
issues than thay are to Liberal Democrats. I not saying they
are identical, I am saying phiosophically they are closer.
Is this not why the Fisa Bill easily and quickly passed the Senate?
I have heard reports that this bill could easily pass the House,
had the Leadership not put it on "Hold".

My point here is not criticism but to make us THINK and make
us remember Activists are not always in line with majority especially
on issues relating to war. We continue to support People who
push for GOP Influence. Example: Obama has won with GOP votes.
