how does one contribute
to this site? second question does anyone think that in the near future the possibility of a decriminalization of MJ.over half of our prison inmates are in jail for drugs.we have spent 75 bil' on the war on drugs plus the consumer has spent 70 bil.it takes 400,000 police off the streets to concentrate on this war on drugs.

1. Hi, kentj... welcome to DU.
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 07:33 PM by silverweb
Do you mean how does one contribute information/articles or contribute money to DU?

Money would be via that little blue rectangle in the right upper corner of just above the frame of your original post (OP).

Articles/information would be by starting a new post: go to the forum you want to post in, click "post" from the tool bar at the top of the page, and type away.

:hi:

7. Terrific...
... and thanks!

The blue button in the upper right-handed corner only lets you donate to the site. To donate to a candidate through DU, click "home" in the upper left-hand corner and scroll almost all the way down to the bottom of the page. You'll see pictures of Hillary and Barack with "donate" links below them.

2. Click on the "Help" button at the top of the page.
Then look for the contribute line in the left column.

And don't even get me started on the War on Drugs.

6. thanks again
i have been doing some research on the war on drugs for a couple of weeks and the waste is unbelievable and the amount of people that are in jail is rediculous.i'm a 100% dav and several docs have told me the only non-addictive drug for back pain was MJ.i refuse to use pain killers and get about 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night.this is the reason for research.thanks again.

4. First of all, welcome to DU! Go to the bottom of this screen and click on "donate"
When you do, you'll get a gold star! As to the drug question, when I hear that 1 in 100 in this country are incarcerated, many for minor drug offenses, I can only hope something will be done to stop wasting time prosecuting MJ users. Don't use it myself, never have, and while I have many personal concerns about its use, there has to be a better way to deal with (no pun intended) this issue. Remember when law enforcement used to vacuum the clothing of so-called offenders and if even a trace of MJ was found, they were off to jail for 40 years or so? Can't give a link on that right now, but seem to recall it happened in Texas a lot, other places I'm sure. Your points are good ones. Keep the faith and again--glad to have you on DU.

5. Just above your post (upper right) is a blue DONATE button
You can also donate from the DU home page, where that blue button awaits, upper right hand, in a narrow gray bar between the DU tool bar and body of the page.

And I would LOVE to see Marijuana decriminalized. Pot heads, while often tedious, are generally a peaceful lot, especially compared to drunks. I have often wondered if keeping pot illegal was just a plot to make sure prisons had plenty of calm, peaceful folks to fill prison labor contracts with large corporation who want to be able to slap a
"Made in the USA" label on goods without actually having to pay a fair wage to produce them.

Welcome to DU. It will be interesting to read more from you :hi:

8. I was in a pot-legal zone last night.
At the Fillmore in San Francisco.

There was so much smoke in the air that I took out my contacts and dropped them on the floor.

And I have been smoking, every day, for 45 years.

10. I had no idea...
that you suffer chronic pain.

I was in constant agony for years due to injuries to my right shoulder.

Then I had this little neurological event some months ago and lost the use of my right arm and that damned pain.

But I have been working really hard on it and now have most of the function of my hand and arm. I am even able to play guitar again.

The pain has not returned, but I am now pretty much a hopeless alcoholic from decades of numbing myself to sleep every night.

I will send some relief vibes for your pain, 'mom.

Tom

11. Thanks Tom. I am a total failure at drinking, so no help there either
Seriously wondering if some pot in my salads might be a help. Can't stand the smoke, but the pain is beating me down these days.

Am working on breathing techniques to help deal with it when it gets really bad, but that doesn't help me get sleep. And not enough sleep doesn't make me a whole lotta fun to deal with. Sorta cuts into productivity when I have to hide out and Ommmmmm for 20 minutes just to keep from gnawing my limbs off in frustration.

Will take any healing vibes anyone wants to send.

12. welcome friend
The government is not set-up to grant rights. Something can be made illegal with a single bill in congress. Granting a right takes an amendment to the constitution.

If they started now it would take years to legalize it at a federal level. They would have to come up with many laws regulating its sale, transport, theft of, use by minors, the list goes on and on.

I do not think that it will ever be 100% legal. The work that it would take to make it so is almost insurmountable. The best that we can hope for is that the states simply stop enforcement.
