Looks like they are waffling already. At least that what Rep. Silvestre Reyes is saying.

Me ...... going to be madder than a hornet and as close as I have ever been to walking away from voting and politics all together.

, D-Texas, said he was open to that possibility after receiving documents from the Bush administration and speaking to the companies about the industry's role in the government spy program.

:banghead:

"We are talking to the representatives from the communications companies because if we're going to give them blanket immunity, we want to know and we want to understand what it is that we're giving immunity for," he said. "I have an open mind about that."

8. I'm getting pretty thick skinned about politicians acting like politicians.
Which is what I "trust" them to do.

But, they vote, I vote...based on their votes. And, they can "trust" me to do so.

16. More than a little
pissed ... I am so sick of folks acting like they're representing us when they don't have a clue about who the real 'us' is. Most of us aren't receiving golden parachutes after committing crimes -- most of us aren't buying our second or third homes -- most of us aren't getting rich because politicians rely on our contributions.

I don't trust many, I trusted Gore and Edwards.

At this point, I don't even think it matters if I vote at all.

30. Point of clarification
I've phoned Washington from action call lists, I've written letters, signed petitions, donated and emailed .... white collar and political crime goes unpunished all the time.

Just today, riding home, I hear on NPR about how Fanny Mae was no longer going to allow the mortgage brokers who inflated appraisals to make bigger commissions to do that any more. Independent appraisers must be used (guess they never heard of kickbacks). And, as usual, the damage has already been done. These brokers made tens of thousands of dollars on each transaction, and, I guarantee, NOT ONE OF THEM will spend a day in jail (ok, maybe they'll send a scapegoat or two), but the people they ripped off will never be made whole and most of them will still reside in their McMansions, keep their jobs, health care, and retirement funds - while the people they scammed go under because their homes are not worth their loans.

18. The same way I feel about the Dems who do nothing every day . . .!!!!
How about impeachment --- ?
How about holding the Repugs responsible for the damage they've done to the world, basically!!!

How about holding Bush responsible for criminal behavior ---

for "Signing Statements" which are illegal ---
and it is up to Congress to ensure that the legislation they pass is carried out with the
INTENT and SPIRIT with which it is passed ---

Signing Statements are a LOUD RAZZBERRY at the Congress --- which does nothing, does nothing,
does nothing!!!

Oh, yeah --- they still take money from coporations --- and lobbyists for corporations --- !!!

Has anyone thought to contact William Saffire to get more information about how he felt about it when they wiretapped him? And why did they?

23. Betrayed!
Most of the voters, even among Democrats, are sheeple. The same people who betray us again and again are reelected. The reason is that the voters do NOT understand either politics or economics. To most of them it is merely a popularity contest. This is true even for Democrats who are active party members.

Progressive party members have to elect progressives even at the lowest level who can work their way up to leadership. Many of the leaders are entrenched through "old boy" networks. They don't listen to the members. They merely dictate orders down the line. We have to elect true progressives at the district, county, and state levels, to replace the entrenched troglodytes within the Democratic party.
