Rove: "If we were to give up Iraq with the third largest oil reserves in the world"

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,334408,00.html

<snip>

WALLACE: If he's able to define Iraq in terms of where do you spend that $12 billion, on the battlefield over there or on infrastructure and social programs here, doesn't Obama win?

ROVE: Well, Obama -- it's a good argument for Obama, but I'm wondering where it goes, because it really is a very neo-isolationist argument. It basically says, you know, "We should not be involved in the world because of the consequences to the budget here at home."

Well, we were not involved in the world before 9/11, and look what happened. Look at the cost to the American economy after a terrorist attack on the homeland. We lost a million jobs in 90 days after 9/11.

If we were to give up Iraq with the third largest oil reserves in the world to the control of an Al Qaida regime or to the control of Iran, don't you think $200 a barrel oil would have a cost to the American economy?

So you know, it's a cute thing in a primary. I'm not certain over an 8-month general election that you can make the argument that we ought to take a look at every foreign policy commitment in the United States and measure it on the basis of the number of dollars that we've got there.

I happened to be in Los Angeles on Monday, and somebody had heard Obama say this to me, and they were Democrat, and at dinner they said, "I'm worried about that, because does that mean he's going to be looking at our support, for example, for the state of Israel and looking at it in terms of what could we be doing at home with those dollars?"

6. what bunch of crap
1)Part of the reason oil is up so much is because Rove's war has essentially taken Iraq's oil fields off line

2)Another reason is the buying of oil by China, which Obama nor Bush can do anything about

3)If they were really worried about this, it would have been far smarter to invest in alternative energy than fight a war in Iraq

4)Does it matter who runs Iraq as long as they can sell the oil in the ground. We buy oil from the Saudis and all they did was supply the people and money to do 9/11...

5)Go check the DOW ticker. Sure it goes down right after 9/11 then bounces right back. The DOW doesn't tank and stay tanked until Rove's war begins.

No it isn't terrorism that is killing the economy, it's the endless war. War does not drive economies. It historically never driven economies. Rove has killed more Americans in Iraq than the terrorist killed on 9/11. Nuf said.

12. Call Guinness, it's a new worlds record!
Most lies told in a 5 minute time period. Defeating the current record holder, one George W. Bush who had achieved his new record just days ago during his Feb 28 press briefing.

16. "Not involved in the world before 9/11.." ????? WTF KARL??
We've had military bases all over the world, for years.
We've had CIA Ops all over the world, for years.
We've had satellite int all over the world, for years.

Before we "became involved" in Iraq, wasn't oil like $26/barrel?

This man is a cancer.

19. Series. 43* didn't even know Iraqistan existed until Saddam's Terra-ists blew up...
New York City and killed a million Americans for their freedoms.

As usual, Kkkarl is parsing his doublespeak. He wasn't talking about Clinton, George I, Raygun, etc.... He was speaking about the current administrations total ambivalence and ignorance of anything outside their experience and the immediate interests of their corporate masters during the first 9 months of the malAdministration.

To their credit, even the staunchest of the Republics are finally beginning to say "WTF?" every time he opens his pie hole and a toad hops out. I don't think there is anything we can do about the remaining 19% short of institutionalization for the common good.

20. Definitely an admission that it was all about oil (and military bases plus a few
other possessions, as we figured out before they went in).
