PHOENIXVILLE — A flier circulating around the borough accuses Earth Mart of supporting animal rights extremists.

Employees from the business said they were shocked by the flier, which contained a picture of its storefront and an anti-PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) graphic.

“Earth Mart Supports Animal Rights Extremists,” the flier alleges, continuing, “The Phoenixville Earth Mart Store is hosting a party for local animal-rights extremists on March 15 right here in your neighborhood.”

That party is the Great American Meat-Out Celebration and Outreach Event, which encourages people to refrain from eating meat products for a day. The organization sponsoring the event is the Philadelphia chapter of Club Veg, a nonprofit vegetarian education group. The event will feature free vegetarian food samples, displays and information.

4. You know, that's an interesting question...

Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with the local meat-packing and/or producing industry, so I couldn't really say. This area is becoming less and less farm-ey as the suburbs of Philadelphia grow further and further west.
