8. Toronto is having one of its most severe winters on record
way more snow than usual (we normally only get 40" or so) and it's been damn cold here.

I'm not saying there's no global warming, just not in my part of the globe at the moment.

I'm mostly concerned about the quality or our air, water and land, though a little warming would not be bad in these parts. While I agree that human pollution affects our climate, I also believe that our planet has gone through a number of cycles over the past several millenia regardless of human pollution.

The green movement is real and there have been some positive changes, but I'm concerned that some of them will be detrimantal to our planet. CFL bulbs will hurt our environment as they start burning out en masse and bio fuels are resulting in huge deforestation and increase prices for basic staple foods around the world. The prices of corn, wheat, sugar, etc, etc, are all on the increase due to higher demand and I'm sure that will lead to more supply of these crops, which hurts our planet. Some of the "green" solutions just seem a little short-sighted and we may not like the long-term effects either.

I'm just being the devil's advocate here...

17. One of the problems with warming is that the flora and fauna...
of your area will change. We have beautiful boreal forests in northern Minnesota that are expected to disappear as the climate warms here. There are birds that will stop coming to the southern part of the state from the north, and pests from the south that will be able to survive the warmer winters.

Southern Ontario is warmer than Minnesota and I don't know how dramatic of a change you might see, but we have three different ecosystems at risk in our state.

5. Great! I love the snow. Used to live in Jackson, WY and
it was a beautiful sight. Looks like there's more on the way towards you. Be careful if you go out in it driving!

6. It was snowing when I left work today, around 5ish
in Irving. I had turned my heater off a few days ago, when I got home from work it went right back on.

At least it's supposed to be in the high 60s this weekend, I got some flowerbeds that need cleaning. :)

9. Wow. I can't imagine what that must feels like.
I've never been a temperature lower than the twenties.

The current temperature in New Orleans is 72 with humidity at 84%. We're expecting some vicious thunderstorms this evening with the possibility of tornados until 11 p.m.

15. Pour some water on you
jump in your freezer for a few hour and when you get out have someone smack you in the face really, really hard. That about as close as I can describe it for you.:D But the crazy part of it is, that after a while you just get used to it. Either that, or I'm losing it. Most likely the latter.

I once went skiing when it was 13 below. The next day it was 23 above--still well below freezing--but I'll never forget how it felt like summertime!

10. It snowed lightly 2 days ago.
It was 17 degrees when I got up Sunday morning, and 33 degrees this morning, with a high of 49. A high, chill wind kicked in this afternoon.

Couldn't believe it when I walked outside. Really great day here, especially considering how freezing it was on Friday.

14. I was just out driving in it (in Dallas).
It started out as heavy sleet/hail a bit before sundown and turned into beautiful fat snowflakes after dark. It was great- it reminded me of northern Indiana in the winter for just a few minutes.

16. It was 9 degrees when I was out at 8:30 am.....
We had beautiful brilliant sunshine, but more snow is on the way.

This has been the first "real" Minnesota Winter we've had in years.

20. Hey, remember, it's "climate change"
We may be warming, as a trend, but the warming is going to completely "mess" with our weather patterns. Expect old patterns to vanish, and prepare to loathe your weatherman more than ever before as his models become totally useless.

How 'bout the primary/caucus? Will the streets/weather clear by morning, to allow for good turnout?

25. Oh, no question. I was rear-ended in Texas one time ...
... and that was just with a bit of rain having fallen. (Guy in big truck didn't time his breaking quite right.)

Well, here's hoping climate change sends a warm burst before mid-day, then, to allow peeps to get to the polls.

23. HUGE flakes coming down heavy in Plano
It'll look really pretty in the morning...grass/trees all covered. Of course it will all be GONE mid day since it's supposed to get into the 50's.

Kinda worried it will mess up voting...I can see people who wanted to vote before work just heading TO work since the roads will be a mess during morning rush hour. And if they go after work or later afternoon, there's going to be a shitload of people waiting in loonnnggg lines just before polls close..which then could delay the caucuses starting.

Gonna be a long night of waiting for tallies!
