Bush regarding the Telecom Co's: They should be thanked, not sued
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 09:59 AM by sabra

<snip>

Led inside at 1:22 pm, we saw the president at a rostrum with Attorney General Michael Mukasey to his right standing before a wall of eight American flags and facing four rows of seated state AsG. They were applauding him, not us, as we entered.

At the rostrum, Bush thanked them for serving the nation and said "there is no greater responsibility of the federal government than to proect the American people." While saying there are a "lot of legal complexities" in the FISA debate, he said, timely surveillance is critical He said "we can't do it without the cooperation of private companies.

"Should those who stepped forward to say they would protect Americans have to defend themselves in the courthouse?'' Bush said. ""They were told it was legal by the government. They were told it was necessary by the government, and here they are being sued."

They should be thanked, not sued, he said, and he thanked the seven Democratic and 14 Republican attorneys general who have signed a letter in support.

as a warning to companies who would comply with illegal requests from a dictator.

And to the crime lord Bush, I would say that your first priority is to DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION, not violate it at every turn.

5. Bush is formatting America like Iraq
I understand why people don't see how our troops are getting killed by serving in Iraq for rights they don't have. It's so clear to me now. It's like a huge clarity just ran over me and started to hum...
Bush doesn't confront the issue because he is the problem. He has enacted laws without congress and now he is using Congress, it's hard to tell which ones are good and bad. Their all ruthless. And what makes it's so hard to see is that Verizon Communications was one of the first to state they will help the cause. This is true patriotism, that's how I see it! We have a tyranny for a President and no one has helped us. But we are free?!? It's his nation and it's his world, and we are just suffering in it.

8. Yeah but Thom when you are represented by
a DINO such as I am, Daniel W Lipinski of the 3rd Congressional District in Illinois, what's the use in writing or calling him. This asshole is gonna vote for telecom immunity no matter what. Now the House is floating this idea of two votes on the goddamned thing, it gives cover to DINO's just like him.

I hate to say this but I'm beginning to believe that my beloved country is dead and buried.

12. "They were told it was legal by the government."
Quick someone inform Bush he is not the whole Government. In fact he's not in the part of the government that decides what is and isn't legal at all. He's trying to deny the branch of the government who's job it is to actually rule on it's legality from even hearing the case. F him.
