http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=2949060&mesg_id=2949060

or the recent thread about the 3 men in Wisconsin who dug up a dead woman for sex, if the weird event took place in your state,

there's always some moran who posts,

"Well, what could you expect from {insert name of state here}?"

2. Yes, it does get old
I was always taught to see people as individuals, regardless of where they come from, what degrees they have or don't have, what their jobs are, what kind of house they live in and the nonissue of the quality of the contents thereof, or who is there when they turn out the lights.

I've never understood how come others, especially other progressives and liberals, can't afford us the same leeway.

3. I live in Florida
and was born in Alabama. I am all too familiar with it. I will no longer defend Alabama. After recent events I now would believe anything coming out of there.

There is no excuse for the way Alabama is run.

4. It doesn't bother me much here in Kansas...
With the likes of Fred Phelps and the anti-evolution, anti-choice diehards.

But then again, I was raised in California, and have always considered myself to be "transplanted Californian." :D

6. Nope -- because it's usually deserved here in Georgia
Hell, the last big thing was that crematorium that used it's back acreage as a dumping ground for the bodies.

7. Yes!
I hate that. They totally discount all the weird shit that happens in those "normal" states. I hate when people say, "well, it's a red state so what do you expect". Like only republicans commit murder or whatever it may be and even if it was only republicans, it's not like there aren't any living in blue states.

9. You can find examples of these kinds of goings-on in every state
to one degree or another.
Where do you think the phrase "Only in America" came from..heh.

8. Yes it bugs me.
I wish it did not but when you work as hard as we do to change things back to sanity it really hurts to have someone else make a stupid remark about your state. Kansas here, proud of it in many ways, love it in many ways. I know it's faults so I do not need a holier than thou remark from one of the "superior" states. I may agree with their assessment but because of all the work we do and will do it does not help at all to have the reaction remarks like that gain from the other side. They are already defensive enough to be dangerous and this makes our job far more difficult. So yes, against my better judgment I do get pissed off.

Funny though, many times all you have to do is check the profile. It seems a lot of the "stupid, red neck states" like to belittle each other so they can feel better about where they live. It is odd the things we humans do isn't it?

10. Hey, don't look at me, I was born in Florida
and that has to be the screwiest state in the country. It's one of the reasons I don't live there.
