Maddow is kicking ass on Abrams
I listened to her from her first show on AAR to her being put on at six am..to her come back to evenings from her early tucker appearances to her comeback as a real msnbc regular. She is perfect. She truely represents liberals in the way I like to see.

1. I'd like to see a lot more of Maddow and a lot less of most everyone else
on the cable news shows.

4. I'd be happy to see her with a show on MSNBC & Sam Seder
could take over her AAR spot, if she weren't able to juggle both...

5. She wouldn't back down from that Peter douchebag
Just the kind of attitude Dems need to exhibit on these circus shows.

They need to shitcan tucker and give her the slot.

leading up to the Iraq war? Of course he's still an expert to cable.

8. Seems to be a lot of foot-dragging however in giving her a TV show --- !!!
They simply don't want to give a FEMALE that power ---
and especially anyone as effective as Rachael Maddow --- !!!

In particularly, with that great sense of humor---!!!

15. I don't know what you are driving at. She is not anti corp...
She believes in regulation of corp. msnbc would view her as anti corp.

18. Right --- "MSNBC would view her as anti-corporate" . . .
Meanwhile, to see the need for regulating capitalism, IMO, suggests that it a tool of capitalism which, like capitalism, requires strong oversight ---

and I hope that Maddow would support economic democracy ---
as a liberal.

23. No -- that's not all that is required re capitalism and corporations ---
even the founders feared the power of capital ---

Capitalism isn't synonymous with democracy --- in fact it is probably just the opposite.

True democracy requires economic democracy ---

We need to put corporations back in the box and only raise them for a specific purpose --
and fold them down again which was the way it was originally intended ---

27. It's good that pretty much wherever you're posting now . . .
everyone pretty much gets it re capitalism ---

"a ridiculous King-of-the-Hill-System" ---

IMO, the overturning of New Deal regulations --- Nixon overturning of the Bretton Woods Accords ---
disastrous --- among many other actions in recent decades.

We could probably pull off setting things right eventually ---
but I don't think we have the time considering Global Warming ---
another gift of capitalism!

22. Doubtful Or They Wouldn't Have Hired Her In The First Place...
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 10:54 PM by KharmaTrain
Maddow's credentials stand big outside of her work on AAR...her reporting and writing...as well as a lot of hard work and networking that got her that gig. She worked her ass off to get where she's at, and to Dan Abrams and MSNBC's credit, they saw it as well.

As far as her own show, I think the problem is MSNBC's budget than any political bias. They're eating it big time with bowtie boy...I expect once his contract is up, he'll be gone. Scarborough has been a disappointment in the morning, but again, contracts are keeping him there (IRC, he was given an extension to move to the mornings). It's easier to pay a Maddow or other "contributors" a retainer (meaning no benefits, but still nice coin).

Right now the networks are cutting costs...many have freezes in place and others are trying to buy out or freeze out the costlier employees/contracts (which in the end will put what remaining quality people still working on the outside). Things aren't pretty in the broadcast world these days.

I doubt her AAR connections hurt her at MSNBC...if anything it's a plus...more credibility....and AAR surely doesn't mind it one bit.

25. Interesting . . .
And I agree with you --
IMO they can see the huge value in Rachael Maddow's presence ---

Meanwhile, these are people who haven't given much attention to "value" in their thrust for monopoly and right-wing power. They may simply be frightened of a world without Cheney/Bush to protect them?
But they have run the networks into the right-wing ground -- not caring about the huge losses they've suffered in viewership --- and they were HUGE --- since the right-wing takeovers.
The advertisers care, however, I imagine --- !!!

IMO, it's mainly the fear of losing right-wing presidency --- and I think that's also why MSNBC opened up a bit with letting Olbermann have his way in bashing the right-wing.

After all, it's a right-wing network.

12. She is wonderful. She is intelligent, she speaks well, her points
are well-made and pleasantly and humorously when the occasion calls for it. Furthermore, her voice is resonant and she is very pretty, IMO, making her very easy to watch and listen to. She's the total package for a gig all her own.

she is so very nice. She is a genuinely nice person. I've listened to her for years, and there is nothing nasty about her. Compare that with l. ingrahams who guest host for o'reilly.

28. Rachel rules! I love her.
I love Dan Abrams and K.O. as well. They all do hard work and do their job well. One person I cannot stand is on CNN. I think her name is Leslie Sanchez, a "Rethuglican strategist". She is nasty and annoying. Yuck. At least get a Rethug with some kind of charm. Say what you will about Joe S. and Tucker, at least they can be funny sometimes. All of FOx is literally unwatchable. I try to grin and bear it at my Mom's house. My parents are big time conservatives. Their commentators and anchors are excrutinatingly bad and the women are airheads who wear short skirts with lots of fluffy mostly blond hair. Terrible. As a woman, I was offended.

Maybe she is better as a guest commentator than a host of her own show.
