A gunman kills 8 in an Israeli school and it is instantly labeled terrorism. No terrorist organization has claimed responsibility, Hamas denied responsibility, yet it is terrorism.

In the US 35 are killed by gunmen, 14, 6, 5, 3 and it is just a case of someone with mental problems and a gun.

I don't get it.

14. Counter Battery?
I know the technology allows a 155 or mlrs to place rounds on the source of an iranian Katusha rocket. Even if the person who fired that rocket is already gone.

Now just because one side is firing rockets into a large city does not mean the other should respond in kind.

16. How can one defend killing innocents from either side?
I can't. It is always wrong.

One is sanctioned by governments and called self-defense. The other is called terrorism. I just don't get it.

none advocated a cause.

2. because the one at the Isreali school was motivated by political
divisions, and the ones in the US are just plain jerks that can get guns easily.

5. We don't know that yet.
Even if they were an Arab in Israel, we have no idea if it was politically motivated. It could turn out to be, but it is automatically labeled as terrorist, when it very well could be an Arab in Israel jerk.

15. So does Israel, the US, and countless other organizations and governments.
Doesn't mean that it was automatically political in nature.

They were calling it a terrorist act before they knew how many died or how many gunmen there were.

4. Wait in the Seattle area...where the ELF burned the multi-million
dollar houses...this was the lead for the local news

Terrorist group "Elf" left their calling card...

No they are not terrorist they are arsonists criminals and to use the word terrorist anytime something happens is insane...this is exactly what happened in Pre-Nazi Germany.

We need to call the media on their laziness and jumping on the band wagon to label every crime a terroristic act.

7. That's my point.
They use the label when it suits the story line. This gunman in Israel is not known about yet. He could be just an angry man with a gun.

As far as labeling ELF a terrorist organization, they already have. They even put Greenpeace on that list. It's fucked up.

10. Plus, it's highly likely ELF had nothing to do with those arsons.
The developer of those "Street of Dreams" McMansions had been stuck with them unsold for almost a year. And with no likelihood of them selling any time soon (at least for a profit) now that "fake" mortgages aren't available anymore, the developer could have been motivated to burn them to get out from under them.

17. Yes, but none of them were purchasing those homes.
The developer was paying for those empty unsold houses for almost a year. Lowering the stratospheric prices might have moved them, but he might not have been able to do that especially if he were leveraged to the hilt like most are, expecially now.

It would be interesting to see the asking price history for those houses.

terrorist activities on our soil....that's why....

11. Labeling an event as a terrorist act is arbitrary, and dangerous.
Terrorism implies political motivation. Instead of a mass murder of 3000 people on Sept. 11, 2001, it was a terrorist act. It recognizes that it was political motivation rather than a large crime.

The reaction was worse. We gave the attackers great credibility by invading two countries, one unrelated. We gave the politics of the attack a greater weight than deserved. Now, we are stuck.
