MSNBC Staffer Killed Leaving Work
An MSNBC technical operations staffer was struck and killed by a garbage truck on Tuesday night after leaving work, where she'd contributed to MSNBC's primary night coverage. According to the NYDaily News 29-year-old Jennifer McNamara was struck around 2:30amET while crossing the street at West 50th St. and Seventh Ave., just a block from Rockefeller Center.

A co-worker emailed TVNewser, writing, McNamara, "should be recognized and remembered for the wonderful person she was. She will be greatly missed by the Tech Staff."

The Daily News reports McNamara was from Charlotte, NC which is home to NBC's affiliate news service, NBC Newschannel. We're told Dan Abrams will mention McNamara's passing on his show tonight.

What a shame. My sympathies to her family and coworkers at MSNBC.

8. I feel sorry for the truck driver too.. The last thing anybody wants to
do when at work is kill somebody. I had three close friends (peers) in the past 5 years involved in accidents where they were driving their 18 wheeler and caused death. Two of the accidents were with drunk drivers, and the last one was when a guy in a pickup spun out on black ice and drove head on into the grill of his freightliner. The guy was staring right at him just before he was killed. All three of these professional drivers have to live with it and it's not easy.

9. What Were The Circumstances?
Before you feel sorry for the truck driver, I'm still wondering how someone could be killed in Manhattan while crossing the street. Even if it was late at night.

It just sounds really freakish. Was she walking down a dark alley or something? Who is at fault here? I'm very sorry for the loss, but just curious how it could happen in the first place.

10. I don't know what the circumstances were, but I don't believe this
truck driver went out of his way to run her over. I do know people like to blame the professional truck driver for everything.
