Hopefully some of the long-timers here can help out. I car-pool to work with a woman who's a really good person, but a real true-believer that anything that comes out of Fox News is from the mouth of God. Anyhow, today she came up with the old chestnut about how the Saudi's supposedly offered Bin Laden to Clinton and he turned them down. I remember reading that this was total bullshit, but can't find it. Anyone know where this might be? Snopes doesn't have it.

Knew I could count on you! I ran off copies of the articles so she can read them. The transcript of the speech he gave will come in handy. She was telling me that Hannity had a tape of the offer, and both articles refer to a tape of the transcript, so I'll bet that was the one he's talking about. And, of course, when you read the transcript, it shows how wing-nuts twist what's said to fit their needs.

Since she's a true believer, it'll take more than pointing out that just because these guys say something doesn't make it true. She honestly believes that they never lie. When I told her this story was bullshit, and a distortion of what happened, she just couldn't believe that Hannity would lie since, "He's the 2nd most popular conservative talk show host, after Rush. If he lied about something like this it be all over for him." I'm not sure how I managed to NOT break into hysterical laughter, but I didn't.

Anyhow, thanks again. Maybe if she realizes that they do lie, she'll start taking the crap they dish out with a grain of salt. All we can do sometimes is open up their minds enough to allow just a ray of the sunshine of truth in for these folks. Enough rays and we may bring her to the light!:grouphug:
