Israeli forces cross into southern Lebanon

Israeli forces have penetrated the border in al-Ghajar, towards the Shebaa farms area in southern Lebanon.

The report by Future TV said the Israeli forces had penetrated six kilometres into the country but had stopped just short of the UN-demarcated 'Blue Line'.

Following the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000, the UN drew a line called the 'Blue Line', which did not cover the disputed Shebaa farms area, which was declared as being on Syrian soil.

Former Lebanese president Emile Lahoud rejected the 'Blue Line', saying it violated Lebanon's territories.
