Will the economy make it until 2009?
The repukes are trying anything they can to hold up the economy until a Dem takes over before it falls. They are dropping rates, printing new money daily and even sending us some of our own money to spend on it.

My question is, will we make it to 2009 before the economy crashes?

1. If it doesn't will our nominee be given carte blanche to fix it?

3. It doesn't matter
Dems will be blamed NO MATTER WHAT.

"If the democRATic party hadn't been so divided in early 2008, El Presidente's stimulus package would have worked"

"If it hadn't been for the 11th hour bi-partisanship to stave off economic collapse, the stimulus package would have worked"

"If the congress had simply agreed to cut taxes for the wealthy to 1% of their annual expenditure on 'monkey butt' rash cream, the stimulus package would have worked."

One of these will be the line next year. I'm betting on #3.

4. I doubt it, because it looks like full-scale implosion right now..
of course every measure that they take now, will just make it harder for the Dems to fix next year...

5. The economy will not crash overnight.
After the stock market crash of 1929 the market recovered everything it had lost by early 1930. Prices were low and employment was high. There was no depression in 1929 or 1930. Then, slowly but surely, the economy started contracting, hitting bottom in 1933.

People who weren't there often have the impression that the day after the crash of 1929 the country was suddenly in a deep depression. It didn't happen that way. It never does. Don't forget that the collapse of the Roman Empire was a slow motion event that spanned generations, not a sudden failure that happened at 3:30 PM on some dark and dismal Wednesday one November.

9. Not to mention
...that monetary and trade policies, together with the weak dollar, are configured entirely differently than in the era of Hoover. The fact of the matter is that we have a long way to go before the economy is as bad as it was in 1982.

The irony of the weak dollar is that its collapse, though utterly improbable, will indeed cause people to buy American, as they are so often urged to do here.

11. the economy has been in a collapse since 2001
and since then it has gotten steadily worse . No it won't be over night but it won't take long for the bottom to fall out . We are 7 years into it now .
