I see there are several versions.

If Reagan had been assassinated instead of Brady being disabled for life, maybe conservatives would think about the gun issue. We Dem's lost JFK, MLK, RFK, John Lennon, ....

1. I remember this. I always turned the radio up when it was played...
If I remember correctly, though, the original had Walter Cronkites actual voice, not dubbed in by someone else.

Nice job.

2. I've heard it played a lot on the '60s on 6 channel on XM Radio
and the voice always sounds like someone else reading Walter Cronkite's actual words.

Maybe they had problems getting rights from CBS to use the sound clip at some point and had to re-dub it with someone else.

Anyway, the music is rather gooey-sweet, but when contrasted with the news clips--especially the raw sound from the RFK assassination scene ("Get the gun, Rafer!") and Teddy's eulogy (especially when his voice cracks), it still gets to me.

3. I'm meeting Bobbi's oldest Kathleen Daughter Tuesday night

The "he saw war and tried to stop it" always gets me in the same way.
