Is this the face of a healthy person?

Several years ago .....

Yes, it was cancer. Yes, I am sympathetic. Yes, I hope he stays healthy.

But .... **is** he healthy?

The left side of his face keeps getting worse. He's clearly always in makeup. Some days see his left eye looking droopy.

1. No, he doesn't look to me like he'd make it the full 4 years,
IF he got elected. I barely see how someone as unhealthy as he is, will be able to stand the grueling schedule of campaigning. THAT VP selection is mighty important, which reminds me...WTF was the question about KERRY? Why would Kerry even think about being VP for McCain- Mr. 100 more years of war!!!

2. Of course he wouldn't accept
But it was a great question because it reminds right wingers that McCain once considered running as Kerry's VP. Seeing him get pissed and make the news was awesome. We just need to do that more often and he'll keep looking more and more unstable to the average voter.

Poor guy. I really hope he gets to relax and enjoy his last years without stressing about trying to be presidential.

24. Reporter on the plane with McCain: "Why are you such an angry person?"
Did anyone catch that? McCain was getting pretty steamed at the reporter on the airplane who asked him about why he previously said that he had never met with John Kerry to discuss becoming his VP choice. McCain started getting very peeved, saying that that wasn't true and that everyone knew he met with Kerry. He wouldn't let the female reporter place a word amidst his own unrelenting response. Finally, she said "why are you such an angry person?" McCain just said "Huh?" and didn't respond. The TV talking heads have been commenting on McCain's response, but no one has brought up what I thought was an interesting question.

5. The republicans don't select Presidential candidates based on health.
Especially mental health. It started with the ever paranoid Nixon. Then there was Reagan with his Alzhiemers. Then the manic depressive Bush Sr. Then came Bush Jr. who has every mental defect known to man and a few that have yet to be discovered. The Republicans don't really hold primaries. It's more of a contest to see who's the craziest nut in the party.

8. My mother has called me three times this week asking about this.
She says that currently his face is bruised and there is a recent incision starting at the ear. I have no idea what this is about. Maybe this is normal following removal of lymph nodes from the neck. What's odd is that no one in the press is commenting on this.

Not odd at all. He's a Repubic.

Remember Bush's never-divulged physical results? When was the last time that even got discussed?

Cheney? Does anyone know what his real condition is?

On edit ...... I'd **MUCH** rather get the straight skinny on McLame's health than on Obama's or Clinton's tax returns.

9. LEMME at him. I am handy with a scalpel and suture. That prominent lump below and to the right of the
scar sure as hell looks to me like a cancer recurrence.

And I worked for several years for our local old-school veterinary cancer quack (who was a dear old man but needed to RETIRE) and have seen way more than my share of bad and recurrent veterinary cancers. And lumps is lumps - don't tell me the feel for these things doesn't transfer across species.......

If elected, McCain will not serve out his first term. They didn't get all his melanoma out.

13. No, he's a very sick man
sick in body and sick in soul. I suggest the ranters on DU who swear they'll vote for him if their candidate isn't our party's selection pay very close attention to his VP pick because that will likely be the president by the end of a McCain term.

I'll be a good girl and not dis that combover.

14. I don't think he could stand the rigors of international travel....
for long. The time and climate changes are difficult enough on a young healthy person.
He would probably be exhausted the second day into a summit.
Reagan was older too, but he seemed to have a stronger constitution than McCain. More healthy overall.
John McCain has had skin cancer on various parts of his body, and lymph nodes removed in the past.
I would think his body has enough to deal with just staying healthy. All the stress of a presidency won't help his immune system any.
I think his VP pick will take on additional importance in lite of this.
Mind you it's all a mute point, because his chances of winning are about nil.

26. As a senior in my late 60s I know the consequences of advancing age.
He's several years older than I am. But I have noticed that mylife as a senior is quite different from my life just a couple ofyears ago in the workplace. I now have to face several more "screenings" based on questions about age related issues, than I everhad before. It's an issue we cannot turn away from and it certainly isn't "ageism."

18. Token Repub Candidate
Look at it like this:
After making a mess of things for 8 years, Dubya's handing McCain a broken toy. Not only is our nation in shambles, the chances of a Republican getting elected this year are next to none. All the Repukes know there'll be a Dem in the WH next year; that's why McCain's the last Republican standing. If I were McCain and I was facing such a huge mess as what he's facing now, I'd be furious with GW Bush... (Not that I'm not furious with Bush anyway...)

OT, but... When will everyone in the nation take to the streets and demand Bush's and Cheney's heads on sticks?!? I can't believe they're not in prison by now. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I will always believe the Bush Family and the Carlyle Group had a hand in pulling off 9/11. The Bush Family are capable of any depraved thing, I wouldn't put anything past them.

28. I think McCain was the worst they could do w/o appearing to intentionally throw the election
...to the Dems. The GOP do NOT want to win this election. They know the economic tsunami that's coming and they want a Dem to be in the big chair when it hits.

33. Well, if it could be said there's a bright side to all this
...then perhaps it's simply that it's doubtful the tsunami will wait for the GE, let alone Jan 20, 2009. The economy's coming apart at the seams right now, and if the Fed cuts rates again I think that'll basically be it.

I expect there will be little doubt who was steering the ship of state when it happened, who was saying up till the last moment that the economy was "fundamentally strong". And which party was behind it with its deregulations and out of control money printing and spending.

Whoever is our next president will have a very very rough ride and probably only serve one term. Unless one of them is FDR reincarnated.
