What do you think it's about?

Recruitment? Lookie here at the cool stuff you get to play with when you sign your life over to the hawks? That's what I thought.

Then, come to find out, that black bird belongs to DHS.

:wtf:

What would YOU think, watching it do lazy loops overhead at under 500 feet?

It was hard not to moon them, I'll tell ya that much!

Personally, I worry about the GE less and more about all those prisons Marc Racicot built when he was governor here (just before he headed east to head the RNC, bush/cheny 04, cushie gigs with lobbyists). The prisons are mostly still empty. Got lots of fed $$ to do some great paving on a lot of rural highways that don't really see much traffic...

Just my ol paranoia, or are we all the Indians now?

2. Funny you should mention that... The irony is rather peculiar I think.
That is exactly what I giggled about. Whoever sent the bird send word ahead of it: tell lots of people; try to get them to come out for a look...

Havocdad said they wanted to make sure people weren't surprised by the thing as there are lots of decent firearms in the vicinity ;)

They did have the helicopter making LOTS of noise. Local dogs heard it a good 90 seconds before I did and I hear better than most people. They did NOT want this to surprise anyone.

Show of pride, or gentle show of force? Before you answer, let me tell you, there are a lot of VERY rich people wanting to gobble up the land around here.

4. I live on a flight path...
that the Navy uses to fly between NAF El Centro and NAS North Island. We get overflown by heliflopters (and C-5's, and C-131's, and C-17's, and F-18's, and...). Helicopters are the worst, they come in lower and can make the house shake. I really hate the CH-53's.

7. Grew up in Southern Calif. All kinds of bases, all kinds of crafts
Now live in the most remote community in the lower 48. Hearing ANYTHING besides a crop duster or really small plane is weird. Every July 4th, Malstrom sends out some flashy fighter to do fly bys for all the little towns in this part of the nation. But a Black Hawk coming in, landing on the track, picking up a young deputy for a flight.... The flight was LOW & SLOW. We all got a good look at cameras and big machine guns, as was the obvious intention. I am hoping for more detailed pics of this burg on Google Earth now!

Well, it's got some of us scratchin our noggins.

The only 'terrorits threat' here abouts is bored teenagers engaged in drunk driving. And maybe some feral cats out in pastures.

15. Living in San Diego...
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 10:19 PM by HawkerHurricane
I get to watch all sorts of planes go overhead. Every sporting event seems to get a squadron of Navy or Marines flying by. Plus the airshows, the annual Miramar show, and the CAF's "Wings over Gillespie"... had a B-17 flying around recently; used to have flyovers of General Doolittle's house in April by a B-25 (or two) for the anniversery of the Doolittle Raid...

For terrorist activity, National City just south of San Diego got a homeland security grant which they used to set up cameras to watch not the area around the Naval Base or the shipyard, but the Red Light District. I can't figure out if they think that the streetwalkers are terrorists, or that the streetwalkers are in danger of terrorists...
(There's a job for you: someone must be monitoring those cameras, right?)

16. Watching the Red Light District? That sums up my thoughts on the whole TSA thing
It's not about terrorist suspects, it's about blackmailing anybody who may be of use at some point.

18. Kind of pointless, really.
The streetwalkers, knowing they could be arrested if caught on film, moved thier operations a block east. For several million dollars, the National City P.D. suceeded in moving crime a whole 100 feet. One wonders what might have been accomplished with that money had it been spent on, say, high quality firefighting equipment... equipment that would be useful almost daily, and critical during a disaster...

3. When we were building our house
and putting a sunroom on the second floor, the black helicopters came around, trying to look in. Creepy. Wonder what they thought of our clothes and prayer rugs?

11. We had this happen a few years back in my hometown...
Only this was a PR thing for the National Guard put together by the pilot, who was an alum of the local High School. It was sort of a show and tell thing for the kids.

The guy did do time in Iraq flying MEDEVACS however, he always stated that his proudest moment of his career as a NG Blackhawk pilot was flying rescue missions over New Orleans after Hurrican Katrina.

13. Blessings on the MEDEVAC pilots!
And as stated up-thread, I figured recruitment rah rah too, but they took one green deputy up and no one else and this was DHS, not any military branch.

We are very remote here, but not far from a critical piece of infrastructure. Thing that make ya go hmmmm at a time when the criminals running things are under a lot of pressure, and more people are seeing through the side shows meant to distract them.

17. Mooning a black helicopter?
Man, if I was ever to get arrested for something, there are worse things to go down for. That'd be one for the grandkids. "Lemme tell ya about the time grandpa Hardhead got arrested..."

Now I know what to do if this happens to me.

19. Ironic, isn't it? When I lived in Montana, many of the hardcore Bushie Types feared UN black
helicopters coming in.

Now, they've got their tyrannical lying spying criminal blackhelicopters, but I'll bet all those Bushie Fucks are singing a different tune, aren't they?

"Weeeeeeeeeee loooooooooovvvvvvveeeeeee our Black Bushie Spy Helicopters! Spy on us! Watch us! Fuck the Constitution!"
