There's a primary in Illinois today?
For the open seat of Denny Hastert? Who's going to win and why? And why on a Saturday? Does it favor one Party over the other?

1. oh my G-d such a question
hastard resigned. People get to vote for a moderate dem or a hateful person known by us liberal dems as "the milk nazi". he owns an organic dairy that makes ice cream and milk. The milk nazi's name is oberweis and he hates latinos and GLBT and the conservative chicago trib has 3 recent articles about why NOT to vote for him. They endorsed Bill Foster.

2. I listen to the ads but don't know about when it is.

It's not in my district.

The Hastert replacement for office and the Rezko investigation is all over the news in Illinois.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Rezko Rezko seems to be a political hack working for both parties. Guess he wants to be near the power.

Fitzgerald is investigating Rezko connection to Obama and our governor but not Hastert for his land fraud.

http://67.15.199.163/node/814

Might I add the governor and the Mayor of Chicago do not get along so most of this is all political. It's not so bad as when the X-governor of Illinios, Ryan, was involved in license fraud, etc. It resulted in the death of people in automobile accidents all over the country. He is now in prison.

Hastert is what I call "change of face law". When it got too hot in that sewer in DC he left with his bag of pillage. He also got a book deal on the way.

7. Wrong information
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 08:54 AM by Kittycat
First, it's not Rezlo, it's Rezco.

Second, Fitz ISN'T investigating Obama, so please keep that slime off of the board. Obama isn't even named as a witness. But if we want to be technical, Clinton backers are.

ETA: And Fitz already came out to say this doesn't involve Obama.

14. Wrong again...
Where in that article does it say Fitzgerald is investigating Obama and that Obama is on the witness list? All that article states is that some RW nutjob has launched a site to try and pin something on Obama. Go to NPR, Obama's name did not come up in trial.

Again, quit sliming the board with RW bullshit. If you want to have a "discussion" on such slime - take it to GDP.

4. Special Election For Hastert Seat Gets More Acrimonious
... Oberweis’ company, Oberweis Dairy, filed a lawsuit against the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for an ad that alleges that “illegal immigrants were found working at his own dairy stores.”

The lawsuit alleges that the DCCC “knowingly and willfully presenting false and
harmful information to the public about Oberweis Dairy.”

DCCC communications director Jennifer Crider called the lawsuit “an outrageous attempt to illegally use Oberweis Dairy resources to benefit his campaign.”

"Jim Oberweis knows that the ads about illegal immigrants found working at Oberweis Dairy stores are completely true and the DCCC plans to hold Jim Oberweis and Oberweis Dairy accountable for their frivolous claim,” Crider said ...

17. We were push polled by him the other day.
My husband ended up just hanging up on him. But we've had MANY misleading/lying mailers from his campaign in the past couple of weeks as well.

10. quoted from kos poster
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 09:00 AM by Kittycat
... I'm using this to avoid retyping, since I agree with all the information this poster provided:

Bill Foster and Jim Oberweis are actually pretty close on border security policy, which most people favor. Bill Foster and many Democrats favor a path to citizenship or legal resident status for those illegal immigrants already working here. This excerpt from the Geneva Sun provides a capsule summary of their views on immigration.

• Immigration Oberweis: Supports securing borders; opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants; opposes granting government benefits to illegal immigrants; supports a worker's ID card with biometric data to allow employers to check legal status; supports deportation of criminals; wants English as the national language.

Foster: Promotes combination of border security and workplace enforcement; envisions a biometric card or encrypted cell phone with information that allows employers immediate access to citizenship and employment status; proposes so-called "impact fee" for undocumented immigrants who stay in United States while awaiting citizenship and for businesses that hire workers from visa programs.

The tragic death of one woman should not be used as an excuse to label an entire segment of the population as criminal. Like it or not, we have illegal aliens living and working here. Many are solid, contributing members of the community, and are looking for a way to support their families, working in jobs that most Americans do not want and will not take. Oberweis has even had illegal aliens working for his dairy chain. The question is whether you want to resolve the problem in a way that works for the mutual benefit of society, business, and the many decent, but illegal, aliens who are already here or do you want to prey upon people's fear and ignorance to incite hatred against people who just wanted to find a better life.

It's like having 11 million strike breakers. Not good for them or us in the end.

16. One benefit our district has over years past...
An increased middle class that relocated from more democratic districts with the housing push. A few of my neighbors are from the City or more "democratic" areas. Others relocated from other states. I know we have some RW nutjobs, but I think in general it's looking good for our town at least (Oswego).
