100% correct Ted although the illegal invasion, occupation, and genocide in Iraq is right up there with it.

4. C'mon Georgie
get your ass on that McCain campaign trail would ya? Everybody's waiting to see some more hugging and kissing between you two.

Kennedy needed to say something like: "One of the most shameful acts of a presidency filled with shameful acts" IMO

5. The most shameful act was when Dubya said "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully
execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Dubya knew that was a lie and he intended NOT TO "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

9. Actually the most shameful act preceded his presidency
It was when Poppy, his friends and the Supremes stole Florida for him.

Just look at the treatment of the returning Veterans and the lack of equipment provided for them. Look at the water scandal they faced in Iraq. Just look at how Cheney's friends at Haliburton continue to exploit them.

21. The height of hypocrisy
They'll complain bitterly about Bush** vetoing the ban on waterboarding, but they still won't move to impeach him even though he's blatantly approving a war crime by doing this.

Repubs, Dems, they're equally useless. I'm beyond infuriated and fed up with them all.

Enhanced interrogation techniques

Technique details under the Bush administration

According to ABC News<42>, former and current CIA officals have come forward to reveal details of interrogation techniques authorised in the CIA. These include:

1.The Attention Grab: The interrogator forcefully grabs the shirt front of the prisoner and shakes him.
2.Attention Slap: An open-handed slap aimed at causing pain and triggering fear.
3.The Belly Slap: A hard open-handed slap to the abdomen. The aim is to cause pain, but not internal injury. Doctors consulted advised against using a punch, which could cause lasting internal damage.
4.Long Time Standing: This technique is described as among the most effective. Prisoners are forced to stand, handcuffed and with their feet shackled to an eye bolt in the floor, for more than 40 hours. Exhaustion and sleep deprivation are effective in yielding confessions.
5.The Cold Cell: The prisoner is left to stand naked in a cell kept near 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius).
6.Waterboarding: The prisoner is bound to an inclined board, feet raised and head slightly below the feet. Material is wrapped over the prisoner's face and water is poured over him. Unavoidably, the gag reflex kicks in and a terrifying fear of drowning leads to almost instant pleas to bring the treatment to a halt.

Methods used at GITMO
1.Prolonged sleep deprivation,
2.Sensory deprivation,
3.Extremely painful "stress positions,"
4.Sensory bombardment (such as prolonged loud noise and/or bright lights),
5.Forced nakedness,
6.Sexual humiliation,
7.Cultural humiliation (such as desecration of holy scriptures),
8.Being subjected to extreme cold that induces hypothermia,
9.Exploitation of phobias,
10.Simulation of the experience of drowning and controlled drowning, i.e., waterboarding.

28. The Torture President
It seems to really seal his place in history as the Torture President. What a legacy.

It pretty much breaks our implicit promise to those from other countries in this world and their "huddled masses yearning to breathe free" that we here in the US are something more, something better, a place where barbarity by our government isn't tolerated.

It's a damn shame and an awful milestone in the history of this country.

But I know what you're saying. There are just so many damned things piling up, one after the other. I can see it from that pov too, but this one just feels very different to me.
