It's not like Spitzer started an illegal war....
I don't know, is he married...

If he isn't, well then it was probably better for him to seek professional help in relieving his urges...

We all know what happened when a political figures goes off willy nilly looking for satisfaction...

So, pay a fine, tell people to mind their own business and get on with the governing of New York...

Or would the people prefer he trolls the single bars or worse, have sex with someone on his staff...

1. "Pay a fine"? You're not familiar with Spitzer's career prosecuting prostitution rings, are you?

6. From the NYT:
Mr. Spitzer gained national attention when he served as attorney general with his relentless pursuit of Wall Street wrongdoing. As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.

“This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure,” Mr. Spitzer said at the time. “It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring.”

4. It IS like he's a fucking hypocrite though.
Just like the hypocrite that is Bush. Do you not remember the disgust with which he talked about the prostitution rings he prosecuted in 2004? Is memory that selective these days? Lets not become that which we detest-spin machines.

16. Well then I suggest researching something before coming out with
an opinion on it. I am sure many here today have done that when it comes to this.

19. You're excused.
But you did not start the thread with that. I believe the thread started with,"It's not like he started a war or something..." And then, when you gave me the response you did, I came up with the response that I did. It really wouldn't have taken that long (with all the threads here) to realize it was about more than sex. Although there are some that are working very hard to make him appear somewhat less sleazy and hypocritical than he is.

5. Spitzer has a wife of 20 years and 3 daughters..
.. and he was using the services of a
prostitution ring that was also engaged
in money-laundering.

I think he has no choice but to step down.

It's so sad to see a corruption fighting Dem
go down, but the thing is .. he's just as
corrupt.

What enrages me, though, is that so many Reeps
have done so much worse and are skating free..
including Bush and Cheney.

10. Any Lawyers Here...Real Ones?
I'm not familiar what type of crime Prostitution and Solicitatio are, and it'd be best to find out what laws have been broken and then go from there.

In some states it could be a misdemeanor...a parking ticket, but in others its still considered a felony. Important to remember here is not only was Spitzer a lawyer, but a prosecutor...he knew the law and still took his chances. That's more of a concern as it shows a careless character...where impulse can getting the better part of one's judgement.

Let's see what the crime is here...and make the judgement on that ground. The morality issue is one that the voters of New York will have to deal with, but if he broke laws and knew it, we'd be hypocrites calling for accountability from repugnicans while dismssing those for a Democrat.

23. This is a federal crime not a state crime in this case.
A woman was transported across state lines for the purpose of commercial sex. That is a violation of the Mann Act and is a felony. Depending on how far the prosecutors want to go they could include conspiracy, and various other charges.
