CAN I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION FOR JUST A MOMENT?
Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 03:23 PM by lynyrd_skynyrd
SIX more troops killed in Iraq.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming. (Obama said this, Clinton did that, blah blah blah blah blah)

Unless enough people bring this to the home page.

Edit:
Bonus points if you knew about these latest casualties before clicking on this thread. Anyone? Anyone hear about them, read about them? Anyone see headlines about them on CNN.com or any other home page of any so called reputable news source?

10. Anything but (adjusted for inflation), $20 sex workers. From HuffPo:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/10/emperors-club-all-about-_n_90768.html

Some attractive photos there, with a few interesting details (besides the tied off top, and itty-bitty jean skirt, Anais has a Master's Degree in Public Relations!), the Huff Po article links to a more detailed article, which only identifies him as "Client 9", caught on a federal wiretap making arrangements to be a client.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/10/spitzer-prostitution-scan_n_90766.html

In this case, I'm not sure of the details, but with Spitzer saying he's going to resign (unlike Sen. Diaper Boy, Vitter, from LA, or Sen. Larry "Wide Stance" Craig, from MT), I'm just wondering if he wasn't a casualty of some sort of Improvised Electronic-surveillance Device. He made a lot of powerful enemies on Wall Street, during his time as Attorney General.

34. Hi Mrs. Grumpy,
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 12:58 PM by Kajsa
You posted something factual and relevant.

I posted a reply to a thread proving the OP was
false, with reference number to the gov. agency
I called. I blew the cover on a big lie that was
circulating on the web.

( Yes- the Airborne thing- the FTC and
the FDA did NOT sue them- I knew it was BS)

That post figuratively locked the thread.
No discussion, no replies-NADA.

Factual and relevant is not very popular, here.

32. Don't forget the media coverage of Spitzer "RING"
The Re-:puke: are just pissed because a Democratic guy slept with a woman instead of their preferred sexual victim; a man or better, boy.

I didn't get a chance to weigh in on that yesterday over here (just posted a couple things at WaPo) so pardon if this little irony has already been used :D

I do want to say, though, if Spitzer prosecuted others for the same things he did, then he should go. I refuse to be a hypocrite 'a la Repubes.
It's a terrible shame, but seriously, how the hell can a Democratic politician indulge in such behavior especially in this political climate, not to mention the now-legal Repuke-controlled phone taps on anyone they wish? It's political suicide!
Sorry, but that is seriously stupid, or naive.
Or both.

33. Thank you lynyrd.
When Montel hit Fox with this, they dismissed him and called it "numbers." I call each and every one of them a human being. A person, with family and friends who now have a deep hole in their hearts, mourning the senseless loss of their loved one who no longer has a future. And for what?

Saw it on the crawl on CNN or MSNBC. Never heard them mention it. Too much about Spitzer, Hillary, and Obama. Brittney and Paris must be feeling left out.

Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 01:02 PM by defendandprotect
These deaths will go on and on until the war is finally stopped ---
We can't even see the coffins for cripes sakes!!!

Unfortunately, the next election is important; unfortunately, Spitzer has put us all into more shock and awe --- !!!

Of course, we would have known that many corporations would want to knock out the investigations
by knocking him out of office --- but evidently Spitzer didn't sufficiently consider that!!

If we want to end this war we need reliable people in office . . .
NOT DLC/Republican leadership ---
NOT people who betray us in the way that Spitzer just did -- !!!

and my prayers went out to their families. We really do pay attention but you have to read the crawl or you'll miss it. It's a damned shame that the sacrifices made for this unnecessary war are reduced to numbers in a crawl - both for our military and the Iraqi civilians.

42. Yes I had heard this.
But I am one of a growing number of Americans who listens to progressive radio. Thom Hartmann, Ed Shultz, Rachel Maddow, Randi Rhodes, Mike Malloy, and that Elliot guy right as I fall asleep. Progressive radio gets more airplay in my home than my TV does by far! Each day the Rachel Maddow show starts off with news from Iraq.

So yes indeed, I did know about the five, now six who died yesterday due to a bomb that someone was wearing. The man walked up to our patrol and self detonated it killing five of our soldiers outright and the sixth died a bit later. I believe their were two more of our soldiers who died later that day in Iraq due to unrelated incidences but I am not certain of this.

I wish Kieth Olberman would follow Rachel Maddow's lead and start each of his broadcasts with news from Iraq as well. That first five minute segment would fit better than his "news from the weird" stuff he regularly gives us. His "ear hair" item on that segment the other day was something we really did not need to see or know about.

I advise everyone to get a daily dose of progressive radio...this applies to my fellow DUers as well.

43. So sad and unjust for these troops. We allow it.
You know why the country is not moving in protest?
Because the same guys have been returning there since the war began.
A smaller fraction of the population than
in any other war where you usually had so many
families touched closely by their relatives in war.
Most people are out at the mall. Pathetic.
These troops are so stressed they are killing themselves.
Of course this is not news worthy either.
And unfortunately neither one of the Democratic candidates have a
sound plan for immediate withdraw. Peace.
