"Created jobs" since 2001
Can someone point me to a good source to find out how many jobs (per month) have been created since 2001?

Thanks! :hi:

2. Depends on what you consider to be "jobs"
There are "jobs", and there are "Mcjobs"

4. Historical jobs data in every industry sector can be obtained at BLS
Just select the data you want at http://www.bls.gov/webapps/legacy/cesbtab1.htm

3. The Bureau of Labor Statistics site is an excellent resource for such data.

For the specific question you've asked, the data can be obtained by going to the following link, checking "Total nonfarm" in the "Not seasonally adjusted" column, the clicking on the "Retrieve data" button at the bottom.
http://www.bls.gov/webapps/legacy/cesbtab1.htm

In February 2001, 131,097,000 were employed.
In February 2008, 136,451,000 were employed.

That's an increase of about 5,354,000 jobs over 84 months, or an average of 63,738 jobs per month.

Since that's less than 1/3 the rate of job increase needed to sustain "full employment" in an increasing population, it can be safely concluded that we're now about 11,000,000 jobs behind the 'curve' ... the number of jobs needed to sustain the level of employment enjoyed in 2001.

In our capital/labor system, economic participation in society is only available to most by being employed.

7. Just what I was looking for.
Some clown on a Republic board was saying, "When the economy was creating 100-300k jobs a month...", in reference to Chimp's term so far. I figured he pulled the numbers out of his ass.

Just didn't know where to find the real numbers.

Thanks!

5. Well heck just ask any michigan puke enabler, theres plenty of jobs just for the asking
it's just people are to lazy to work 3 or 4 jobs 18 to 20 hours a day 7 days a week. Besides, if you can't find work in michigan then you pack up all your belongings and move to a state with more jobs. The real problem with people not working is, they won't work for 17 cents a day. Besides they all know whats wrong with no new jobs coming in, it's those wicked people at the EPA restricting how many poisons companies can expose people to, get rid of the EPA, OSHA and the Unions then everything will be dandy. Notice how first they say theres plenty of jobs, then turn around and admit there are few jobs, then into the blame game they go, so they don't get caught in the first lie.

Can someone point me to a good source to find out how many jobs (per month) have been created since 2001?

Yes, I just posted the numbers and the BLS sources at http://home.att.net/~rdavis2/employ08.html . I also included three graphs. Following is one of them:

Finally, there is a discussion of the data at http://usbudget.blogspot.com/2008/03/employment-from-bls-household-and.html .

9. Created jobs alone gives little meaning, ask for the jobs lost since 2001 as well.
