The Spitzer thing made me think about this. At the end of the legislative session each year in Baton Rouge the lobbyist all get together and throw a big party. Reporters, lobbyist, members of the legislature, and staff would put on skits and such for entrainment. Around '85 or '86 there was a famous one late in the evening, no doubt after the free liquor provided some courage for the reporters which portrayed Edwin Edwards making a trip down Sorority Row at LSU. He went from house to house spending time getting to know young voters.
At the end of the evening, the governor would take the stage and thank everyone for their work during the session. After the sorority row skit Edwards took the stage and gave the normal speech. When he finished Elaine Edwards picked up the mike and said she had something to say. The room became very quite, she said she wanted to talk about the skit with her husband with those young college girls. She then said to the hushed anxious crowd "Anyone who knows my husband, knows .... he would have been asleep after the third girl."
