heartfelt thanks to Chris Matthews
...for eloquently objecting to the journalists who were caught on video laughing at G.W. Bush's mocking of America at the Gridiron dinner. Bush sang a rendition of "Green Green Grass of Home" with allusions to Scooter Libby eluding the prosecutor, Cheney refusing to provide subpoenaed information, etc. Someone caught it with a cel phone, and bits of it have been played.

Chris Matthews displayed some outrage at the press corps' laughter, also noting that these things are not funny, nor is a war built on lies.

Thank you, Tweety. Ya done good.

1. And now we get K.O.'s take on it ... with Rachel Maddow
It promises to be TWICE as good (maybe even THREE times as scathing).

3. Caught that, too.
Kudos to Tweety. They should have played "Send in the Clowns," instead. Despicable, the whole lot of them.

8. You give them too much credit by referring to them as "journalists."
And yes, Tweety came down on the correct side of this issue; wish he'd had this kind of outlook instead of his drooling cheerleader attitude over Chimpy in years past

9. Especially ballsy because he knows Cheney has had it in for him,
but he won't stop talking about the criminality.

Credit where credit is due.

11. Re-post: Neh, he intro-ed the clip with a smile & a twinkle, almost a wink
like he was battling his inner man crush on Shrub that has lasted 9 years. AFTER the clip, he did his mini-rant, which was PALE compared to the blistering crap he has shot at Dems. I *did* wonder whether his slap at "journalists who laugh with the politicians they are supposed to cover" was aimed at his new peer, David GREGORY. But that comment could EASILY apply to Tweety for any number of events where Tweety was thrilled to be with Shrub: remember the Xmas party where Shrub fingered Tweety's striped tie and said, "Very preppy," and Tweety drooled on the show the next day?

Nothing about Tweety can be taken at face value. It will take 365 x 9 of his "good days" for me to move him into the Rehab column. Here's a previous thread, same as this one:

18. I do remember that.
And I hope Tweety rues that day. I do know that he lives to be an insider and be invited to things like the various clubs and societies. The Alfalfa is another one of those shindigs. The press and members of Olde Washington rub elbows with members of the current administration. It's nasty stuff. In the past, Tweety has loved to be part of that.
