Adm. William J. Fallon for V.P.?
Just a thought. I obviously know nothing about how this guy feels about things like universal health care. But he stood up to Bush. Talk among yourselves:

The Navy admiral in charge of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan announced Tuesday that he is resigning over press reports portraying him as opposed to President Bush's Iran policy.

Adm. William J. Fallon, one of the most experienced officers in the U.S. military, said the reports were wrong but had become a distraction hampering his efforts in the Middle East. Fallon's area of responsibility includes Iran and stretches from Central Asia across the Middle East to the Horn of Africa.

"I don't believe there have ever been any differences about the objectives of our policy in the Central Command area of responsibility," Fallon said, and he regretted "the simple perception that there is." He was in Iraq when he made the statement.

3. A general for a running mate
Could not be bad for a candidate running against a war hero.

15. Same basic rank
And you know what I mean.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Admiral

The word Admiral has today come to be almost exclusively associated with the highest naval rank in most of the world's navies, equivalent to the Army rank of (Full) General.

17. Fine
With specificity being the very soul of credibility, you should have been more precise. Not knowing Fallon was an Admiral instead of a General indicated you didn't/know what you were talking about, even though you may indeed have.

18. Of course I knew he was an admiral
I made the original post! So, then I made a small mistake in a subsequent post. Why make a federal case out of it? Sheesh.

8. For the purpose of disengaging from conflict, military thinking is far more necessary
than that required for invading. I understand your sentiment, that the world is far more in need of peaceful thinking instead of military thinking, but we find ourselves in an unpleasant reality.

9. really? how so? wasn't needed to withdraw from VN.
and if for some reason it was so, (which it's not) why does that person have to be a VP?

11. You might be right, I'm no war strategy dude. But we've lit the fuse on a far more deadly
situation. I honestly abhor the prospect of killing another million innocent Iraqi's as we pull out. Sadly, we won't be pulling out. Ever.

12. Sure would be a helpmeat for young Obama.
Should Smirko the crazy monkey cancel the election, perhaps the good Admiral can help lead the Pentagon detachment in a second American revolution.

13. Let The Good Admiral Rest...
I suspect he's got some damning stuff on how this occupation and war for profit were mangled that could be very valuable later this year...say if it came out in a book and 60 minutes interview and maybe even a campaign apperances, but that's as close as I want him or any military type to political power.

Resigning doesn't make him a saint...and most definitely not a politician. If there's anyone who has been in the military that I'd like to see in some administrative capacity...Secretary of Defense or possibly State...it would be General Clark.

16. Is the Admiral an Democrat or Republican
Everyone assumes because he has had a political falling out with the current Administration that he has to be a Democrat. I am not sure that is a valid assumption. Does anyone know for sure what his political stripe is.

21. NO. and the LAST thing we need to do right now is to give Reptilicans
any excuses to FURTHER politicize the military. Oh but the demmycrats took a top officer right after he wuz fired and made him their V.P. so why shouldn't we have a sitting General as our President?

Good GOD people. Think first, huh?
