new york governor spitzer involved in prosecution ring!!!
he ALLEGEDLY hired prosecutors!!!
he ALLEGEDLY discussed official business with prosecutors!!!
he STANDS ACCUSED of actually BEING a former prosecutor!!!

not to condone what he allegedly DID do, but the headlines have been grossly misleading. "involved in a prostitution ring" means your on the sell side of prostitution, making a business out of it. being on the buy side is something else entirely.

i'm not saying any of it looks good, but calling a john a pimp is a horribly irresponsible way to break a scandal.
of course, the fact that it was leaked at all prior to charges being filed means that the leaker intended for it to be a hit piece, but it doesn't mean the media needed to play along.

wasn't the scandal juicy enough without this ridiculous distortion?

1. It's something about Republicans, that the truth is never enough by itself.
They can't do anything without making some shit up.

3. Remember this is the same media that worked in conjunction with Bushco in the run up to the war.
The real media is gone.

4. I saw that. This is actually a political takedown.. How often does the Fed go after a "jon"
The Fed jumped in using the fact that the prostitute took a train to meet him in the next state. Then they called it "interstate trafficing" and went after him.

I've never seen a government case leaked with so many salacious details and a coordinated message. Almost like they wanted to steam roll this case and try it in public and get him out with one KO punch. They even have the Republican state legislature ready to roll with impeachment before he even gets his day in court.

Interesting that Spitzer's wife says Elliott should hang in there. If he's done a good job for the people of New York (I know he was pretty aggressive prosecuting white collar crime), I'd love to see him stay and fight it out in court. If nothing else, lets see how they built his case. I'm sick of shooting our own when the other side doesn't hold theirs accountable. If this was public corruption, I'd feel different. I guy spending his own money to have sex is none of my business. All I care about is how he does the public's business.
