A letter to an escort
Hi there, I um...just wanted to drop you a note about this whole recent Spitzer thing and such.

I don't know you at all. I do know that someone asked you what you desired and you told them, and you asked them and they told you. You made an agreement and all was supposed to be well.

I live here in America in 2008, and it's all a little crazy right now. We have this war going on where a president asked for the ability to go to war over lies and he got it, and hundreds of thousands of people have been affected by it (death, maiming, etc and so on). A place where our government prosecutes individuals who make personal deals in a bedroom, all the while they are making deals with defense contractors in the boardroom to take money for new weapons - long, hard missiles they shoot into other countries, planes, etc.

Here in the good ole US in 2008 you can listen in on personal conversations, read other peoples' emails, look at all their personal financial dealings, treat them like criminals and detain them without counsel and so on - but you cannot, ever, exchange cash for personal pleasure (unless that pleasure is killing someone in another country of course).

So I would just like to say I am sorry for what all you are going through during this public media blitz - cause you see, we jump on stories about sex and money in our media, and ignore all the other stories because the people in power made those other things legal (cause I guess they are better and sex is bad).

Everyone is all in an uproar about the guy you made a deal with, while kids in a faraway land are getting hit by not so smart bombs - but some folks are such patriots that they are waving the flag of freedom each time someone like you gets nailed that they forget to look at the other things, like killing people over lies.

Try not to feel too bad. It might be illegal what you did, but in the scheme of things Ma'am - I could care less and wish you well.

Someday, this country will get it right. Until then - best of luck to you and your personal endeavors.

At least you were honest about it and upfront, and no one was killed. Sadly, that does not matter here anymore.

4. The issue isn't that he hired a prostitute...
...it's that he made a career as the Superman of law and order prosecuting people for "crimes" as insignificant as this.

He set his own bar. He set it high, but that was his choice.

5. Well, I was talking more about her and laws in general
Yeah, he screwed up :) But in the scheme of things, there are a LOT more important things affecting my life right now than some guy in NY paying to get laid.

8. Agreed.
My thought is that this would not be such a big deal had he not become who he is by being the law and order champion.

Being gay is fine. Being a gay-bashing fundy who's caught in bed with another man is hypocritical.

I'm not trying to judge him...I'm just explaining why I think this is bigger than your average "Elected official has sex with hooker" story and why I think some of that is justified.

9. If I pay a lady $20 or $5000 for a "fling"
It's nobody's concern but mine and her's. HOWEVER, if I've
made a career of busting hookers and johns, that's called
hypocracy(sic).
